Snoop Dogg is set to be a part of NBCUniversal’s coverage of the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The renowned global icon will be in Paris, contributing regular reports to the primetime Olympic show on both NBC and Peacock, starting from July 26, 2024.
Throughout the Games, Snoop, a golf enthusiast, will engage with NBC Olympics host Mike Tirico, offering the massive U.S. primetime audience his distinctive perspective on the events unfolding in Paris. His coverage will include explorations of the city’s iconic landmarks, attendance at Olympic competitions and events, and interactions with athletes, their friends, and families.
As an entertainment mogul for nearly three decades, Snoop Dogg has consistently set the standard as a globally recognized innovator. Beyond his accomplishments in music, he has ventured into various fields, including Web 3.0, technology, entertainment, lifestyle, global consumer brands, and the food/beverage and cannabis industries.
The Golf National, a venue that has hosted illustrious champions since its establishment in 1991, including prestigious events like the French Open and the iconic Ryder Cup, will be the setting for the Olympic golf competition. The format for golf at the Olympic Games is stroke play, where a golfer’s performance is gauged by counting the number of strokes taken to complete a four-round, 18-hole course played over four days. The golfer with the fewest strokes at the conclusion of the four rounds emerges as the tournament winner.
Before the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, golf had only appeared twice in the Olympic program, back in 1900 and 1904. Making a triumphant return in Brazil, the sport continued its Olympic journey and was once again featured at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in 2021.
Expressing his excitement for the Olympic experience, Snoop stated, “I grew up watching the Olympics and am thrilled to see the incredible athletes bringing their A-game to Paris. It’s a celebration of skill, dedication, and the pursuit of greatness. We’re going to have some amazing competitions, and of course, I will bring that Snoop style to the mix. It’s going to be the most epic Olympics ever, so stay tuned, and keep it locked. Let’s uplift, celebrate, and make these games unforgettable, smoke the competition, and may the best shine like gold. Peace and Olympic LOVE, ya dig?”
Molly Solomon, Executive Producer and President of NBC Olympics Production, noted that Snoop’s previous Olympic commentary, which garnered millions of views during the Tokyo Olympics, has earned him a role as a special correspondent in Paris. She emphasized Snoop’s unique perspective, stating that he will bring his distinctive style to the reimagined Olympic primetime show.
Snoop also starred in a “Snoop Year’s Eve” promotional video for the Paris Olympics, featuring lighthearted interactions with Team USA athletes. This content, filmed at Universal Studios in Los Angeles, is part of NBCUniversal’s promotional efforts for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
NBCU has designated the NBC broadcast network and Peacock streaming service as the primary platforms for coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. NBCU holds the U.S. media rights to the Olympic Games until Brisbane 2032, covering subsequent editions in Paris (2024), Milan Cortina (2026), Los Angeles (2028), and Brisbane (2032). The host city for the 2030 Winter Olympic Games is yet to be decided.
