Brian Rolapp Named PGA Tour CEO

by AAGD Staff

Brian Rolapp has been named CEO of PGA Tour Enterprises. The announcement concluded a search that began in January, ending with the selection of Rolapp, a 20-year NFL executive, to lead the PGA Tour into its next chapter. The move signals a shift in leadership as current PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan prepares to transition responsibilities to Rolapp and step down at the end of 2026.

Interestingly, Rolapp isn’t a traditional golf insider. While he does play the game, he declined to share his handicap but did mention that his first exposure to golf came from working at the shack at the turn at Congressional Country Club near Washington, D.C.

When asked more in-depth questions about his plans, Rolapp was careful in his responses, often deferring specifics until he has had more time to analyze the landscape. In an open letter, he stated, “Professional golf is evolving, as are the ways fans consume sports. My goal as CEO is to honor golf’s traditions but not be overly bound by them.”

That statement suggests change is coming, though Rolapp did not outline what that might look like. Regarding LIV Golf, which many see as a dead issue, Rolapp avoided committing to any stance.

“When it comes to the situation with LIV, I think that’s a complex situation that’s probably something I should learn more about before I speak,” he said. “But I will say my focus is on growing the Tour, making it better and really moving on from the position of strength that it has.”

Backed by Strategic Sports Group—the investment team that committed $1.5 billion to the Tour last year—Rolapp steps into his new role with momentum, but also high expectations. “Where we deploy that capital, I have ideas,” he said. “I don’t think I want to share them now, but that’s going to be part of the job to get in there and talk about it.”
