As part of $280 million investment, a new golf course is being built in the heart of Zimbabwe’s capital

The golf course is scheduled for completion by mid-2026.

Construction is progressing on a brand-new golf course designed by Peter Matkovich at The Hills Luxury Golf Estate in Harare, Zimbabwe. This development is a key part of WestProp Holdings’ vision to build high-end gated communities across the country.

“The Hills Luxury Golf Estate is part of our plan to offer premium living experiences in Zimbabwe,” said WestProp CEO Ken Sharpe. “Although we faced typical large-scale development challenges, the delays gave us the opportunity to refine the design and elevate the project beyond what we originally envisioned 14 years ago. We are cooperating closely with local authorities to secure all required approvals and support.”

The ambitious US$280 million development, in partnership with the City of Harare, will include 862 home sites and blend residential, commercial, and recreational elements. Central to the project is the full redesign of the old Warren Hills Golf Course. The course, previously leased to Warren Hills Golf Club, was officially closed after WestProp won a legal battle in 2023.

The new layout, guided by Matkovich’s PGA-standard design philosophy, will feature improved routing, new greens and hazards, and upgraded aesthetics. Mandla Ndebele, WestProp’s chief projects officer, is leading the engineering and construction work.

The course is intended to welcome both local and international players and promises a world-class golfing experience. Environmental efforts include planting over 2,000 indigenous trees and rehabilitating wetlands, which has already attracted wildlife back to the area.

The golf course is scheduled for completion by mid-2026, with a grand opening expected in December of that year.
