The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) recently held its inaugural CEO Impact Luncheon and Golf Classic on Martha’s Vineyard, August 11, bringing together leaders, innovators, and supporters dedicated to advancing the mission of HBCUs. The event, which blended networking, philanthropy, and celebration, provided an opportunity to highlight trailblazers who are redefining their industries while giving back to their communities.

One of the highlights of the luncheon was the presentation of the TMCF CEO Impact Innovator Award to Olajuwon Ajanaku, founder of Eastside Golf, and his business partner and co-founder, Earl A. Cooper. This award is reserved for individuals and organizations whose vision and creativity set new standards in their respective fields. Ajanaku and Cooper exemplify that spirit through their bold reimagining of golf culture.

“Thank you to Thurgood Marshall College Fund for the CEO Impact Innovator Award,” said Ajanaku on his IG page,
“Receiving this award in Martha’s Vineyard at Farmneck Golf Club in recognition of Eastside Golf give back to communities and alma mater Morehouse College while pushing business forward in golf.”

Eastside Golf was founded in 2019 by Ajanaku, a former collegiate golf champion from Morehouse College, with Cooper, a PGA professional and one of Golf Digest’s Top Instructors under 40. Together, they launched a lifestyle golf brand designed to make the game more inclusive and appealing to a younger, more diverse audience. Their signature logo, featuring a golfer swinging in jeans and a gold chain, reflects the blending of authenticity, culture, and tradition.

Beyond fashion and branding, Eastside Golf is creating pathways for broader participation in the sport. Their initiatives include collaborations with major organizations such as the PGA Tour and Jordan Brand, as well as community-driven programs that connect golf to underrepresented groups. By amplifying visibility and representation, Ajanaku and Cooper are changing perceptions of who belongs in the game.

The recognition from TMCF extends beyond their success as entrepreneurs. The Eastside Golf team has actively supported philanthropy, including efforts that directly benefit TMCF’s mission of transforming the lives of students attending historically Black colleges and universities. Their example shows how business innovation can align with social impact, creating opportunities that uplift both communities and industries.

The CEO Impact Luncheon and Golf Classic on Martha’s Vineyard marked not only a celebration of Eastside Golf’s achievements but also a testament to the power of visionary leadership. By honoring Ajanaku and Cooper, TMCF reaffirmed its commitment to elevating leaders who inspire progress and open doors for future generations.
