Anesu Gavaza: Building Confidence and Opening Doors Through Golf

by AAGD Staff

Anesu Gavaza is part of a growing generation of women golf professionals helping expand access to the game in South Africa. As a Class A member of the Professional Golfers’ Association of South Africa (PGA of South Africa), Gavaza is developing her career around instruction, junior golf and encouraging more women to embrace the sport.

Gavaza holds a diploma in Club Professional Golf and is a Level 1 U.S. Kids Golf certified coach. Her professional development reflects a commitment to learning the technical and teaching skills needed to help golfers improve. She officially graduated into the PGA of South Africa in 2023, marking an important milestone in her journey toward a career in golf. At the time, she expressed enthusiasm for fulfilling the association’s motto, “Touching lives through the game of golf.”

Early this year Gavaza had the privilege of being part of The R&A Women In Golf Leadership Foundation Program facilitated by GolfRSA and CMASA. “It was an amazing experience learning from different women within the Golf industry. It’s inspiring to see women taking up space in this game not just through playing but through working in the different areas of the industry,” said golf professional Gazaza.

Gavaza brings more than three years of experience in the golf industry, according to her professional academy profile. Her coaching work focuses on juniors, beginners and women golfers. Rather than concentrating solely on technique, she emphasizes building confidence, improving skills and helping students develop a stronger understanding of the game. These fundamentals can make golf more welcoming to newcomers who might otherwise find its rules, traditions and learning curve intimidating.

Her work is particularly relevant as golf organizations seek to encourage greater participation among young people and women. Junior instruction helps introduce the sport to the next generation, while supportive coaching can give new players the confidence to continue beyond their first lessons.

Gavaza is associated with Wanna Be A Champion Golf & Fitness Academy, where she contributes to a coaching environment focused on player development. As her career progresses, Gavaza represents the importance of professional education, accessible instruction and women’s leadership in golf. Her work demonstrates how dedicated coaches can help broaden participation and strengthen the future of the game—one student, one lesson and one confident swing at a time.
