Professional golfer Jim Thorpe was spotted at the PNC today and took time out to chat with AAGD reporter John Perry. Thorpe, born in Roxboro, North Carolina, has over 60 years in the game Thorpe and attended Morgan State University before turning pro in 1972. It would be more than 10 years before he won on the PGA Tour, though he did so in style, beating Jack Nicklaus by three strokes at the Greater Milwaukee Open in 1985.
Also spotted, South African retired professional golfer Gary Player. Widely considered one of the best golfers of all time, Player during his career, won nine major championships on the regular tour and nine major championships on the Champions Tour. The golfing legend is also the older player in the PNC Championship, teeing up at age 87.
