The APGA Tour has become one of the most important developmental golf organizations in the United States. Originally founded in 2010 as the National Minority Golf Foundation, the organization was created to increase minority participation in professional golf. In 2018, the tour officially became the Advocates Professional Golf Association Tour and significantly expanded its programming and visibility.
The APGA’s mission centers on creating opportunities for Black and other diverse professional golfers who have historically faced barriers within the sport. The organization works to provide competitive playing opportunities, mentorship, player development, and pathways into the golf industry.
Over the past several years, the APGA Tour has experienced rapid growth through partnerships with organizations such as the PGA TOUR, Cisco, Mastercard, Farmers Insurance, and various corporate and community supporters. Those partnerships have helped the tour expand its national schedule and increase prize purses while also supporting youth initiatives and player development programs.
The APGA has also gained recognition for helping spotlight talented players who may have otherwise lacked opportunities to compete consistently at a high level. Alumni and participants have earned starts in PGA TOUR events, Korn Ferry Tour events, and other professional tournaments across the country.
