ADIEU TO 2011
I REFLECT ON MY PAST
What I’ve Learned.
What I’ve Created.
As the year 2011 has come to an end and the year 2012 begins, I reflect on the events of the past, the lessons learned and the wisdom gained. I see life from a different perspective today than I dida decade, a year or even a month ago.
My circumstances have changed and so have I. I am continually honing my golf skills, and living a life of purpose and meaning. I think before I speak, knowing my words have power. My actions are deliberate, hopeful and positive. I reflect on my past and what I have created for myself.
As I move forward, I bring with me the best of what was, and I create the best of what is. Thoughtfully, prayerfully and purposely, I am ready for a new beginning. We are like spiritual flowers. We must be watered with purpose, love and right endeavors. I have pulled out the weeds of doubt, indecisions, indifference, to allow for commitment and favorable results.
My decision in May 2011, to return to the “world of golf” has not only made me realize that golf is the world I want to be in. My decision has, because I am progressive, and not competitive in nature, has also afforded me exposures to great opportunities.
My Aha moments in 2011 included opportunities to attend, and commit to:
1) The Southern California Golf Association’s Hall of Fame induction luncheon ceremony for Charlie Sifford.
2) The PGA Championship Tour at the East Lake Golf course, in Atlanta, Ga.
3) Joining and committing to the African American Golfer’s Digest monthly online blog team.
My commitment to 2012:
I am committed to my highest good.
From time to time, I establish new personal goals. I begin by making a commitment to myself. Fulfilling promises, even to myself, is one way I live in integrity. If I have a setback, I recommit. Even if I must do so again and again, I remember that Spirit will help me fulfill any prayerful and sincere promise I make to myself.
Through the power within me, I can accomplish whatever I set my mind and heart to do. I am divinely inspired, and through that inspiration, I find the strength and resolve to accomplish my intentions.
I envision the result and imagine the feeling of a job well done. My faith and confidence grow with each goal I achieve. I am committed to my highest good, and so it is !!!!
Until next time,
Barbara Taylor

ABOUT BARBARA TAYLOR
In April 2011, after taking a six-year hiatus from golf lessons, Taylor decided to return to the world of Golf. When she first took lessons, she found that the transition from playing a “B” level of tennis to learning to play golf was boring, and slow as hell, and as perilous as going over Niagara Falls without a barrel. So, she made a decision (that she thought was wise at the time) to give it up! Taylor’s returned to the game came with a whole new prospective, purpose, respect, and attitude…. And, yes maturity.
Unlike when she was playing tennis, Taylor had no desire to get caught-up in the competitive frenzy. She is into golf for the shear love of the fun, travel and social interactions that she has found so delightful in the golf environment and game. However, she does want to be taken seriously.
Taylor is currently being coached by the legendary Alton Duhon, at the renown Chester Washington Golf Course, in Los Angeles. The course is also the California Golf Home of Dr. Charles Sifford.
