Daniel Augustus Grabs the First-Round Lead at the APGA TOUR’s TPC Scottsdale Event

Sixth event of the APGA Tour season is underway at TPC Scottsdale, Scottsdale, Arizona

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – APGA standout Daniel Augustus fired a five-under par 66 to top the first-round leaderboard at TPC Scottsdale. Kevin Hall sits one stroke back after carding a four-under par 67 and Aaron Grimes sits two strokes back at three-under par 68.

The event at TPC Scottsdale is the first of several stops at prestigious TPC courses this season for the APGA Tour thanks to a partnership with the PGA TOUR. A total of 12 players sit within four shots of the lead heading into Tuesday’s final round setting up an exciting finale. Full leaderboard and scores can be found here.

“Overall I hit the ball really solid today,” Augustus said. Just kept my pace and didn’t really do anything out of my means. Didn’t make a lot of putts but I made enough. It was a solid round of golf.”

Established in 2010, the APGA Tour is a non-profit organization with the mission to prepare African Americans and other minority golfers to compete and win at the highest level of professional golf, both on tour and in the golf industry. This is accomplished through professional tournaments, career development and mentoring sessions.
