The Jamaica YMCA held its Seventh Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Wednesday, September 22, at the beautiful Scarsdale Golf Club in Hartsdale, NY. Each year the annual tournament raises funds through its Annual Campaign to help support families in the Jamaica Community in need of financial assistance to allow children and families the opportunity to participate in YMCA programs for free or at subsidized cost.

Exciting aspects of the day keep attendees engaged and included an online auction, raffles, par 3 contests and give-aways. Tournament players enjoyed brunch, a Captain’s Choice (or Best Ball) format with 12:30 p.m. tee time followed by an evening reception/dinner.

Bernard Warren, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors, was part of a foursome that won the event.

Programs benefitting from the support of the Annual Campaign include summer camp, instructional sports programs, swim lessons, after-school homework assistance (remote and in-person in our learning lab), leadership development, and much, much more.

The 2021 event was a rousing success and brought together a swath of business and community leaders. Attendees enjoyed a fun-filled day of golf and fellowship all for a good cause!

Golf Committee members included Marcel Robin (Chair), Courtney Davis, Cedric Dew (Executive Director of the Jamaica YMCA), Jennifer Kuhn, Kenny Lewis, Gloria Messam, and Vernetta Nelson.

Entry fees to the golf outing are a charitable donation to the Jamaica Y’s Annual Campaign and benefits programs that empower youth, improve health, and strengthen the area community.

Sponsors included BlueCross Blue Shield (trophy sponsor), Champion Combustion (ball sponsor)

The Y is an essential resource for families, and support ensures that more kids have the opportunity to reach their full potential. During the event, all COVID-19 protocols were observed based on CDC guidelines at the time of the tournament.
