The Kentucky Golf Association (KGA) proudly announce back in February the creation of its Kentucky Amateur Diversity Championship. The event is moving forward and is scheduled to be held in spite of the many events setbacks faced by the worldwide COVID pandemic.
The Championship will be contested for the first time on September 25-26 at Kearney Hill Golf Links and the event will be open to people of color who are amateur golfers as defined by the USGA while also holding a valid handicap index. The tournament’s field will be open to players outside of Kentucky as well.
The Championship is centered on providing an opportunity for golfers of diverse backgrounds to enjoy the spirit of the game together while competing for a championship, this will be a 36-hole stroke play competition. Prizes will be awarded for the low gross and net scores across each of the various age divisions offered in the event.

“I’m extremely excited that we are getting this tournament launched,” said Jim Thompson, President of the Kentucky Golf Association. “This is something that we as an Association felt like we needed to have and it’s been a long time coming. As the leading organization for golf in Kentucky, it is our responsibility to make the golf community a welcoming and enjoyable environment for all persons interested in playing the game. Golf is a game for all, and we want this Championship to promote that.”
The KGA looks forward to staging this event and providing this unique opportunity for diverse golfers in and outside of Kentucky. The KGA also extends its appreciation towards Kearney Hill Golf Links for their interest and willingness to host the event.
