In just about two weeks, Tiger Woods and his son, Charlie, will compete in the PNC Championship in Orlando, Florida. Giving some insight into the duo, former World Number One (2017) Justin Thomas spilled some tea on the Father and son team.

Thomas and his father, longtime Kentucky club pro Mike Thomas will play together in the event and according to ESPN’s Bob Harig, Thomas said Charlie Woods is a chip off the old block:

“Tiger and I talked about it a bunch; he brought it up a while ago that Charlie wanted to play and Charlie really wanted to play with us. I’ve obviously gotten to know him well, and he knows my dad a little bit as well.

For some reason, Charlie just always wants to beat me, it doesn’t matter what it is. Although he’s never beaten me in golf or a putting contest, he still talks trash just like his dad. It will be fun. We’ll have that, like, inner tournament within a tournament, try to shut his little mouth up, but it will be fun.”

Created in 1995, the PNC Championship was meant to feature major championship winners and their sons, providing for a bonding experience like none other. Former teams have included Thomas playing with his father, and former LPGA star Annika Sorenstam competing alongside her father last year.

Woods—pressing his way through major injuries—now is No. 36 player in the world. He has 15 major titles under his belt, including the 2019 Masters. That Masters win was his first Major win since 2009, marked his first major US championship win since 2008.

On the contrary, 27-year-old Thomas (who is the No. 3 player in the world) has won only a single major, that being the 2017 PGA Championship. He is currently the No. 3 player in the world Looking at these facts and considering that Thomas’ is one of the best in the world, plus knowing that his father is a great golfer as well, the team is linked to being the PNC Championship favored to win the Dec. 19 and 20 event.
