2 Man Scramble to benefit 2 Youth Programs

You don’t have to be a golfer to support this event. Your support is needed to benefit our future educators, doctors, scientists, proletarians, whatever career path our youth aspire to endeavor into.

Howard Bankhead_200Note, the focus of this blog is about Huntsville, Alabama’s 2 Man Scramble Golf Challenge.  Several years ago, while quenching my thirst, Robert Keith Jones (a young Black man) approached me about supporting my youth golf development program. After a brief discussion, he revealed to me who his father was, “Robert Duck Jones”. Duck was an ‘old school’ scratch golfer and a good man.

Keith, a nice and easy-going fellow, isn’t as good as a golfer like his father, but he knows the value of the game. I have been involved in community service work for many years. It’s rare to meet young people that think about someone else besides themselves, and, who are willing to invest resources and take the risk to the benefit of others.

Developing strong father-son, father-daughter relationships is important to all families and your support will benefit these organizations in their efforts:  R MAD (Real Fathers Make a Difference) and Par Excellence Youth Development (PEYD).  Both of these organizations are dedicated to mentoring, educating and encouraging youth and families.

Our round will be played on Thursday, September 5, 2019 with a 12:00 p.m. shotgun start at Colonial Golf Course, a beautifully sculpted 18-hole public course located in Meridianville, Al, that features 6,571 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 69.5 and has slope rating of 114 on Bermuda Grass fairway and Bentgrass greens. You’ll have a wonderful time at this splendid facility which opened in 1964 and has been managed by PGA Professional, Barry Holt, since 1996.  Their improvements made on the course and in the clubhouse are a treasure.

I can go on and on, but as stated earlier, this blog is a plea for you to learn more about, and to support Huntsville, Alabama’s 2 Man Scramble Golf Challenge.  Thank you to the presenters OnlyGrass Turf Specialistsa landscaping company that specializes in all lawn care needs and whose employees have over 15 years of experience in the lawn care industry. Only Grass Turf Specialists is your one-stop shop when it comes to your home lawn needs.
