Kick X Golf is getting into the fairway with the release of its Kick X Blast Driver. Known for producing their excellent Kick X golf balls, now Kick X wants its fans to try out this new piece of equipment. The Blast DriveWay 12.5°. It is not a driver or a fairway… It’s the Blast DriveWay. This newly created golf club is the perfect accompaniment to their balls. The Kick X Blast DriveWay driver is different from other traditional drivers because it’s a mixed combination — fairway wood and hybrid— think of it as a Fairway-Driver Hybrid.
The excitement of the orange, black and white club head alone will get your blood flowing! It really stands out in your bag. The head is overall, much smaller than traditional drivers, allowing for better shots to be hit off the fairway, as a fairway wood. You’ll find it easy to make contact and still get the distance that you’re after.
And, we all have been there, when we have need a little bit more in the fairway, but did not want to hack into the ground with the bottom of a large head club. The Kick X is a perfect fit for those shots. The Kick X handles this type of shot easily with the small cavity that sits right at the bottom of the club. Another great feature of this club is the “X” that is marked in the middle. The black and orange lines tells you exactly where the sweet spot is, so no more guessing. The colorful orange and white shaft is made by Grafalloy, the widely respected shaft company is known for adding stability to powerful swings. The snug feel of the grip will keep you confident through your swing and combines nicely with the overall look and design of the Blast DriveWay. The Blast DriveWay is a powerful and accurate fairway hybrid wood and an excellent club to have in your bag. Every Blast Driveway comes with this fun protective KICKX® Boxing Glove Headcover! TourZ Golf Balls presents its Kick X TourZ Premium Balls. As soon as you pick this ball up you’ll notice something different. This ball is constructed with an advanced triple layered construction that provides for a “Tour Soft” feel and touch around the green. It’s this construction that makes Kixk X TourZ the ultimate golf ball in scoring performance. In fact, the Kick X TourZ Golf Ball is the longest premium ball in golf – The TourZ™ will increase your shot distance and improve your play through its precision control. Secondly, the Tour Z’s main core is constructed using innovative Metal Fuzion Core™ technology to provide maximum C.O.R. – delivering higher ball speeds for explosive distance. Proprietary Z-Aline™ Design makes this ball unique and one of a kind, designed for optimal aiming accuracy. This revolutionary, visual alignment design makes it easier than ever to precisely line-up putts.
The special Metal Fuzion Core™ of the ball creates the highest level of coefficient of restitution (COR) or in layman’s terms, the highest “spring effect” of any premium ball. This fusion of 3 proprietary metals creates a more concentrated mass in the center of the core. Players will notice that When the ball is compressed it rebounds quicker which gives you faster ball speed off the face. And with every 1 mile per hour of ball speed that translates into an additional 2.4 yards. So, the more you compress the Kick X™ ball, the farther it goes!
What is the Story of Sistas?
Set after the death of an African-American matriarch, the women in her family (three very different sisters, one white sister-in-law and the teenage daughter of one of the sisters) clean Grandma’s attic and prepare to say goodbye to the woman who helped shape them into the women they are today. In the process, the “sistas” trace the history of African-American women through music, from the trials of the 1930s to the girl groups of the 1960s to the empowerment of the 1990s.
SHOULD I SEE IT?
What is Sistas Like?
Sistas is a true celebration of African-American women, and like any good celebration, it offers the chance to laugh, cry, sing and dance. Audience participation is encouraged, and the happy crowd often sings along or dances to hit songs featured in the show. Sistas highlights several musical genres and includes such varied numbers as “Oh, Happy Day,” “Strange Fruit,” “R.E.S.P.E.C.T,” “I Will Survive,” “Tyrone,” “I am Not My Hair” and “Single Ladies.”
Is Sistas Good for Kids?
Sistas can provide kids with an insightful look into the history of African-American women over the past century. Parents should beware there are some sexual situations referenced, as well as discussion of hate crimes and abuse.
Prepare your mind for a great golf experience at the Iberostate Bavaro Golf Club in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. This is an inland course located in the Iberostate residential development inside the Iberostar Resort complex.
A friendly, full service and a well-stocked pro shop will great you at check-in. Designer P.B. Dye has transformed a naturally flat landscape into a challenging course of elevated terrain with swales and mounding, 105 of his signature sand bunkers, lakes and extensive use of rock work.
The best part of playing this lovely course is that all of the staff will treat you like royalty on, and off, the golf course. Freely warm up for your round at the course’s driving range. Expect the weather in late August to be very hot. But, the staff will keep you well chilled and cooled off, by providing cooling towels if you simply request one from the refreshment cart that circles the course continuously. Like I said, service at this course is outstanding.
The lush landscaping features many trees and palms, and includes roughs with native grasses.

Now I can fix anyone who shoots 85– even as ignorantly AS I AM– but you reap what you sow, are you kidding me? And, you fought hard (yea right) about as hard as Charlie Brown works on finding a new shirt….Like l tweeted @TigerWoods: Ray Charles could have shot 84.
Pro’s with a tour card don’t shoot 85; If you do YOU NEED TO FIRE YOUR DAMN SELF AND HIRE YOUR CLONE..
This clip will fix Tiger’s, and anyone else chipping. Â When you understand the impact of a chip you will understand the impact of your swing
This is the Shade Tree Pro.

(By Bob Harig) DUBLIN, Ohio — Playing solo before thousands of spectators early Sunday morning, Tiger Woods tried to treat as normal as possible a round of golf that was both surreal for him and for those watching.
Never before had Woods been in such a position — first off, alone, the penalty for being last in a field of 71 players — and left to finish off a tournament that will go down as one of his worst.
Harig: No matter the score, Tiger Woods still matters to golf . Even during a week where Tiger Woods posted career-worst numbers, he continues to be as compelling a story in golf as when he dominated.
Woods shot an otherwise meaningless 2-over-par 74 — 11 strokes better than his career-worst 85 on Saturday.
He played the last two holes in 3-over with a double-bogey at the last — to complete his 15th Memorial Tournament in 302 strokes at 14-over par, his highest 72-hole total ever.
The round took 2 hours, 51 minutes. At one point on the 17th green, Woods took out the flagstick, putted, and put it back in while caddie Joe LaCava raked a bunker. There was no one else there to do it.
“Just trying to shoot under par; just go out there and shoot the best score I possibly can,” Woods said when asked what was at stake in a tournament where he finished more than two-and-a-half hours before leader Justin Rose was to tee off — and 29 strokes behind him.
“Just because I’m in last place doesn’t change how I play golf. Whether it’s the first day or last day doesn’t matter, play all out.”
Tiger Woods was first off Sunday in the final round at the Memorial following his “painful” third-round 85. Thomas J. Russo/USA TODAY Sports
Woods did that, studying putts, checking his yardage book with LaCava, getting frustrated at the bad shots and trying to make the best of the situation.
He got to 3-under par for his round with a birdie at the 11th hole, looking far better than he did than shooting the big number on Saturday. But he couldn’t finish. The back nine gave him fits all week, especially the final two holes, playing them in 12-over par for the tournament.
His six double bogeys or worse are the most of any tournament in his career.
The 18th was particularly gruesome — two doubles, and a quad. The only par came on Friday, when he needed to get up and down to make the 36-hole cut on the number.
This was just Woods’ fifth tournament of the year, his best finish a tie for 17th at the Masters two months ago. He missed a cut in Phoenix, withdrew in San Diego and was also tied for 69th at the Players Championship.

Members of the Tee Divas and Tee Dudes Golf Club of Los Angeles, takes a journey down memory lane. L-R: Jim Colon, Vice president of Toyota, Doris LaCour, President of the Tee Divas and Tee Dudes and the late great Calvin Peete
The Southern Area Youth Program, Inc. held its 34th Annual Martha Hightower Junior Golf Tournament on Friday, February 27, 2015, at the Chester Washington Golf Course, Los Angeles, California. On Thursday February 26, 2015 golfers and golf clubs from Western State Golf Association Southern Area (WSGA) attended a reception at Chester Washington, which was a precursor to the next day’s Tournament.
The reception was by invitation only, with the mention that the guest of honor was a surprise Celebrity Golf Pro . Now you know how that works everyone started scratching their heads, trying to figure out just who this celebrity Pro golfer was, started spreading rumors, making bets on who it was, and trashing talking about what they heard…. Well on the night of the reception, without an introduction, or further adieu, in walks the guest of honor and, to much of everyone’s surprise, with mouth dropped open, excitement on their faces, and totally stunned, it’s Calvin Peete, folks !!!

As Mr. Peete, continued making his grand entrance he definitely got everyone’s attention. Being the Mr. Congeniality that he is, with his wit and charm, Mr. Peete immediately put everyone at ease and posed for and with guest for pictures, for many hours. For the records let me just say that everyone in attendance at the reception that night had their own personal Aha moment, by having the opportunity to not only meet, but to also dine with the great Mr. Calvin Peete.
Photo: Jim Colon, Vice president of Toyota, introducing Calvin Peete as being his friend, and honorary guest speaker for the Martha Hightower pre-tournament reception.
One man was so mesmerized that he had to find a chair and sit, in order to regroup. While sitting he shared with others that Calvin Peete was his golf hero and that, was because of Calvin Peete’s tenacity and unusual swing. Heck, once that man recovered from his Aha moment he got up from his seat, shook Mr. Peete’s hand, had a long conversation with him , then had someone take pictures of him with his hero, Calvin Peete. After taking his last picture he walked away whispering to himself “Oh what a night” !!! Calvin Peete was the guest of Mr. Jim Colon, Vice President of Toyota, and is a member of the Executive Board of the Southern Area Youth Program, Inc.
In his inspirational speech, Calvin Peete spoke of his journey in golf and addressed the young golfers who were in attendance, to maintain their practice schedule, and if serious about the world of golf as a career, to never give up, and to keep striving to be the best they can be. He applauded the volunteers instructors, and stressed to the members of Western State Golf Association that the youngsters they are serving needs their help in order for them to continue to develop, and achieve their aspiration and goals.
Also in attendance, and addressed the audience at the reception was Mr. Will Lowery, who competed on the “Big Break”. Will Lowery also served as the Celebrity Pro for the Martha Hightower Tournament the following day.
Photo: Calvin Peete delivering an inspirational speech at the Martha Hightower Tournament
The day of the Martha Hightower Tournament Calvin Peete was, golf cart, driven by Angelique Johnson, LPGA Pro at Chester Washington Golf Course, and was all over the golf course taking pictures and chatting with everyone who wanted to talk. He stopped by a Tee Diva foursome and congratulated the ladies for having so many of them playing in the tournament. He stated that he had a soft spot in his heart for the efforts made by ladies, for making the commitment to play the game he so dearly, and truly loves.
Mr. Peete stayed after the tournament for the awards luncheon, and let me tell you he ate well, and chatted endlessly with Grandville Brown, WSGA President, and members of the Western State Golf Association Executive Board, who were in town for an WSGA meeting scheduled for the day after the tournament.
Photo: Group photo of Tee Divas and Tee Dudes (Calvin Peete center)
Tournament Chair, Rodney Gants and other members of the Tee Divas and Tee Dudes Golf Club, were out in force to support the efforts of the Southern Area Youth Program Inc., and Doris LaCour, President of the Tee Divas, and the Southern Youth Program, Inc.
Other Tee Divas/Tee Dudes Executive Board members in attendance were Rose Mary Spriggs, Valerie Moses, Terry Black, Katie Catron, Jim Gaines and Marguerite Waddy…………..
“And so it is”!!
Needless to say we were all stunned and sadden, after receiving the news that The great Calvin Peete had died on April 29, 2015 in Atlanta, at the young age of 71. As stunned and sadden that we all were, some how we found solace in realizing just how blessed we were to have had the opportunity to meet, shake hands, dine with, and witness the delivery of perhaps his last inspirational speech. A note from this blogger, Barbara Taylor to Calvin Peete “ Mr. Peete I hope you kept your fork” cause the best is yet to come. God Bless.
Until next time!

RELATED STORY: CALVIN PEETE OBITUARY
Summer is finally here and I am excited! I’m excited because the summer months provide several opportunities for me to get directly engaged with golf and diversity, two of my favorite passions. First up was a late May field trip to the World Golf Hall of Fame with students from the Franklin Middle School golf academy. Franklin Middle School is in Hillsborough County, the eight largest public school district in the US. It’s in an urban community, centrally located in the middle of Tampa, FL.
A few years ago Hillsborough County school officials decided to pilot a gender-specific program in two inner-city middle schools to see if there were any differences in academic achievement if males and females were placed in same-gender learning environments. Franklin Middle School has over 400 students, all males. Ferrell Middle School is located in the same urban community. It has about the same amount of students. They are all female. Both schools are magnet schools, and they offer golf to their students as a full-time academy where golf and its cultural values are skillfully integrated into curricula and regular in-school and after-school activities. I’ve been involved at Franklin Middle School since the inception, which was over five years ago.
Several of the students will also participate in summer golf camps at Rogers Park Golf Course. Rogers Park has a rich history for golf in black communities, and the location was recently officially listed in the National Register of Historic Places. My good friend Kennie Sims is the VP of Golf Operations for all three City of Tampa golf courses. Together we will offer four summer camps for teen golfers. These camps will focus on golf and player development, of course, but go deeper into leadership, career planning, life skills and overall personal growth. We’ll discuss plans for college golf, too, and I hope some will consider the PGM program offered at the University of Maryland Eastern Shores.
Next up is the National Black Golf Hall of Fame ceremony, where I’ll serve as the master of ceremonies. Founded in 1986 by the late Harold Dunovant, the organization honors those individuals and locations that have made significant contributions to Black golf. I’ll travel back to the World Golf Hall of Fame for the weekend of activities. This is the first time we’ve held the event at this venue. It was chosen for two reasons. One, because our organization was influential in getting the attention of the leaders within the golf industry, ultimately leading to the creation of the exhibit/story. We are very proud of that achievement! Two, because we want our constituents and all golf/history aficionados to view and experience the exhibit.
I’ll hit the road for four Advocate Pro Tour (APT) tournaments. I’ve been involved with the APT since its inception six years ago. I’ve personally seen the level of competition rise, and several APT players have already advanced to the highest level of tournament play, or have a legitimate chance to do so in the near future. Two examples are Tony Funai, now on the PGA Tour, and Harold Varner, a budding superstar who now plays the Web.com Tour. A couple of other APT regulars have recently played on the Latin America Tour. The next APT event will be late June in New Orleans, and then Pensacola. We’ll be in Atlanta in mid-July, and conclude in August with our championship event in Los Angeles.
I’m involved with another important initiative, the Women of Color golf movement. The short version of the mission is to encourage and promote women of color to learn the benefits of golf and participate in recreational golf activities. The year old organization partners with the local community college to offer introductory golf classes. To date, just over 100 females have completed classes, and many continue to meet regularly to play and socialize. We have an upcoming strategic planning session scheduled to discuss next steps and possible expansion. The innovative idea has caught the attention of media, as well as leaders within the golf industry. Stay tuned for more info and developments.
Finally, supplier diversity continues to be a topic of discussion. I am part of a 25 year old company that offers a product that every golf organization uses at one time or another. We’re a minority vendor with a longstanding reputation in the sports arena, but very little presence in golf. So far this year we have been fortunate enough to do two small jobs with professional golf events. It’s a foot in the door, and we hope to do more major golf events going forward.
It’s been five years since I researched and wrote a plan for the World Golf Foundation to help diversify the game of golf and its industry. The intent of the plan was to help increase ethnic and gender diversity in four distinct areas: recreational play, competitive play, employment, and supplier diversity. All of the abovementioned activities this summer will help the diversity cause in one or more of those four areas. It will be a busy summer, but I wish I could do more. Please let me know what you are doing to help bring more diversity to the game and industry. Perhaps we can work together to make golf look more like America.
