Michael Strahan Celebrity Golf Tournament (2009)

This creative group held their 9th annual tournamnent on October 11 at the Palmer Course, The Woodlands, TX, was a spectacular day of energy, honor and celebration. History finished at the top of the leader board when the Links Of Love Golf Tournament wrapped on June 20, 2009 at Dr. Julius Earving’s Celebrity Golf Club International. The Atlanta Victim Assistance benefit golf tournament, featuring PGA Champion Jim Thorpe as pro player, was more than just a fund-raiser, but a celebration of a legacy of African American achievement. Erving was among the 1st Place winners (above) in the competition that included Darnell Sutton, Partner Celebrity Golf Club International,  Anna Scott, recent Georgia State University graduate and new PGA member,  Glenn Messner. 

Albany State University (Albany, GA) held its founders day golf tournament on April 4, 2009 at the Flint River Golf Course with a $1,000,000 hole-in-one shoot-out. The two-person scramble golf event was won by Charlie Lindsey (Tifton, GA) and “Doc” Holiday (Albany, GA) with a ten under par…the $1,000,000 survived and is expected back next year. (photo Al Cobb)
