History finished at the top of the leader board when the Links Of Love Golf Tournament wrapped on June 20, 2009 at Dr. Julius Earving’s Celebrity Golf Club International. The Atlanta Victim Assistance benefit golf tournament, featuring PGA Champion Jim Thorpe as pro player, was more than just a fund-raiser, but a celebration of a legacy of African American achievement. Erving was among the 1st Place winners (above) in the competition that included Darnell Sutton, Partner Celebrity Golf Club International, Anna Scott, recent Georgia State University graduate and new PGA member, Glenn Messner.
Albany State University (Albany, GA) held its founders day golf tournament on April 4, 2009 at the Flint River Golf Course with a $1,000,000 hole-in-one shoot-out. The two-person scramble golf event was won by Charlie Lindsey (Tifton, GA) and “Doc” Holiday (Albany, GA) with a ten under par…the $1,000,000 survived and is expected back next year. (photo Al Cobb)
The organization raised over $150,000 in proceeds during their annual Golf Classic presented by Georgia Power. The group’s mission continues to improve the lives of African Americans through several of their

WASHINGTON (July 9, 2004) – Giving 12 young golfers the opportunity to play golf with valuable role models, AMERIGROUP sponsored a Golf Outing at Renditions Golf Club on Father’s Day weekend for underprivileged kids. The adult participants included doctors in the AMERIGROUP provider network, political figures including DC Mayoral Candidate Michael Brown and other accomplished individuals who raised the underprivileged youngsters’ awareness of productive life choices.
