Kenneth “Kennie” Sims, a PGA professional based in Frisco, TX, and member of the Northern Texas Section PGA, has been recognized as one of the esteemed PGA Professionals who have dedicated 25 years of honorable service to the PGA of America. As a testament to his unwavering commitment, on July 1 Sims was elected into the prestigious PGA Quarter Century Club.
The PGA Quarter Century Club membership signifies Sims’ steadfast promotion and contribution to the sport of golf. In recognition of his achievement, he received a letter from John Lindert, President of the PGA of America, a special Quarter Century Club certificate, and a distinguished gold Quarter Century Club lapel pin. “It wasn’t an easy journey for me. It took 10 years to earn membership. Now that I am employed by the PGA, I am working to reduce the barriers without lowering the standards to become a member,” Sims said in a LinkedIn post.
“I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge and thank all of the pioneers that opened the door of opportunity for me and others. Without their sacrifice, my story looks dramatically different. My dream is for every child to learn the values that golf can teach,” said Sims’ whose service to the golf industry, and the overall golf community, has driven growth in golf.
Sims holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of South Florida. The Frisco, TX resident is a dedicated professional with broad-based expertise in golf facility management, having worked for the Tampa Sports Authority for 40 years, retiring as Vice President of Golf Operations. Sims currently serves as Sr. Director PGA Reach Impact.
