Members of The Wake-Robin Golf Club have been asked to wear something with that club’s colors in it, and I suggest that our members who attend likewise represent LLGA, though this is certainly not a requirement.

During this time of grief, we come together to remember and celebrate the life of Betty Brabble, a cherished member whose impact on Wake-Robin Golf Club will forever be remembered.

Throughout the years, Betty contributed significantly to the club’s events, notably assisting at the registration table for the Helen Webb Harris Annual Scholarship tournaments. Last year, at the age of 94, she continued this tradition. As the eldest member. Betty served for several years as a contributing writer for the African American Golfer’s Digest with her “Ask Betty” column and even traveled to Malaysia on assignment where she played beautiful golf courses during the early days of the magazine.

Betty’s son, Bill Brabble, shared that the family has chosen to honor Betty’s legacy by continuing her unwavering support for Wake-Robin Golf Club. In line with Betty’s wishes, her obituary will request monetary donations to the Wake-Robin Golf Club Scholarship fund in lieu of flowers. Betty was passionate about providing scholarships to deserving young female golfers, and the family wishes to direct all collected funds toward this meaningful cause.
