Scotty Cameron Releases New Phantom 9.5R Mallet Putter

by AAGD Staff

Newest addition to Phantom family builds on PGA TOUR-winning 9.5R modern mallet design

The Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.5R enters the 2026 Phantom lineup with a strong tour résumé and a design aimed at golfers seeking greater feel, stability and alignment on the greens. Built around the popular Phantom 9R head shape, the 9.5R adds an elongated “.5” jet neck to promote increased toe flow through the putting stroke.

That distinction could make the 9.5R particularly appealing to players who have moved away from traditional face-balanced mallets but still appreciate the forgiveness and visual stability of a larger putter head.

The model has already established itself among some of professional golf’s best players. Cameron Young has used a Phantom 9.5R for all three of his PGA TOUR victories, including the 2026 PLAYERS Championship. He also recorded a third-place finish at the Masters and a runner-up finish at The Open while climbing to a career-best No. 3 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Jackson Koivun also found immediate success after switching to the 9.5R. He put the putter in play shortly before winning the 3M Open by three strokes for his first PGA TOUR victory. The 13-foot winning putt came with the new Scotty Cameron in his hands.

The putter’s design combines rounded contours with a long, single sightline extending across the head. That alignment aid provides a clean visual reference for golfers who prefer a simple setup behind the ball.

Underneath the appearance is Scotty Cameron’s 2026 Studio Carbon Steel insert, featuring chain-link milling designed to produce a softer sound and feel while maintaining feedback at impact. The putter comes with 3.5 degrees of loft, a 70-degree lie angle and is available in 33-, 34- and 35-inch lengths. It is offered in right-handed configuration only.

The Phantom 9.5R also carries considerable credibility among elite amateurs. Preston Stout, the world’s top-ranked amateur at the time of the announcement, used the model to win the 2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Individual Championship.

For golfers willing to invest in a premium putter, the Phantom 9.5R offers a compelling combination of tour validation, modern mallet stability and increased toe flow. $549 MAP. Pre-sale began August 25, 2026, with golf shops receiving the putter beginning September 30, 2026, in the United States. Golfers can purchase the Phantom 9.5R through authorized Scotty Cameron retailers and golf shops, as well as through  Scotty Cameron’s official website.
