The 2022 Lexus LX 600 Full-Size Super Luxury SUV

by AAGD Staff

The all-new 2022 Lexus LX 600, which replaces the outdated Land Cruiser and Lexus LX570, takes its place as the new flagship full-size SUV in the Lexus family of vehicles.

The all-new 2022 Lexus LX 600 was rebuilt from the ground up with a new six-cylinder engine that replaces the V8. It is designed with a Lexus exterior and front grille, with an array of luxury conveniences and high-tech features. The new LX also handles and performs significantly better than the Land Cruiser.

Although the LX is an upscale Lexus, the price range is very similar to the Land Cruiser – from $89,160 to $129,250 MSRP. A few of its closest competitors include Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, and Land Rover’s Range Rover.

The new LX 600, built on the same platform as the Toyota Tundra pickup and Toyota Sequoia SUV, will enter the 2023 model year with few additions or price increases.

I was most impressed by the first-class airline-style caption chairs in the rear, reclining and massaging seats, footrests, seat cushions, and an entertainment system with two 11.4-inch displays and HDMI ports.

The Lexus LX 600 Ultra Luxury model I drove included a built-in high-tech control panel in the rear center console that allows passenger control over the seats, entertainment system, climate control, and more. It also has wireless charging, USB ports, headphone jacks, and an executive-style small table.

Models/Pricing: The 2022 Lexus LX 600 comes in five different trim levels: Base ($89,160), Premium ($97,110), F Sport Handling ($103,370), Luxury ($105,110), and Ultra Luxury ($129,250 MSRP).

All models have standard leather seats. The Base model comes with a 10-speaker audio system. The Ultra Luxury takes things to another dimension with a Mark Levinson surround audio system with 2,400-watt and 25 speakers throughout the cabin.

The Base LX has two rows and five seats, while the Premium model can have a third row and seven seats. The top-of-line Ultra Luxury, with all the bells and whistles, seats four with two rear caption chairs. They massage and recline back. However, they do not fold down to make room for more cargo space.

Power: All Lexus LX 600 models are powered by a twin-turbo 3.4-liter six-cylinder that generates 409 horses with 479 pound-feet of torque. Also standard across the range are four-wheel drive and a ten-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel Economy: The 2022 Lexus LX 600 averages 17 city/22 highway mpg.
