The Golf Heritage Society to Participate for First Time at 3rd Annual African American Golf Expo & Forum

by AAGD Staff

The African American Golf Expo & Forum (AAGEF) is set to take place in Louisville, Kentucky from August 19th to 22nd, with several major sponsors including Golf Digest, the PGA, USGA, LPGA, and others.

Produced by Jim Beatty Golf Ventures LLC, the AAGEF is an exciting event that brings together golf industry executives, consumer and industrial buyers, and suppliers for a unique and informative experience. This year’s expo will mark the first time that the Golf Heritage Society (GHS) will participate in the event which celebrates diversity in the sport and business of golf.

“I am very pleased that GHS will be involved in EXPO 2023. GHS not only offers a unique perspective on the history of golf but has chosen to embrace and celebrate the contributions of African Americans to the game,” said Jim Beatty.

The Golf Heritage Society is a group dedicated to exploring golf’s history and heritage, and will be joining the event. Members of the society take pride in “holding history in our hands” as they collect golf memorabilia, from vintage clubs to autographs, medals, and trophies. Through their quarterly journal, The Golf, members gain insight into the game’s heritage and enjoy access to hundreds of years of golf history.

The AAGEF aims to increase awareness and exposure of golf among people of color, as the collective African American net income (spending power) exceeds $1 trillion annually. This growing interest in golf has been reflected in the expo’s attendance over the past two years, with over 1,000 participants and an economic impact of over $1 million.

The local community in Louisville is an integral part of the expo, with organizations such as Shawnee Golf Course, First Tee at Shawnee Golf Course, and Louisville Central Community Center all involved in the event. Additionally, local small businesses will have the opportunity to gain exposure, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to local non-profit agencies.

The AAGEF serves as an excellent opportunity for those passionate about golf to come together and celebrate the sport’s rich history and diversity. With major sponsors and an ever-growing attendance, the event promises to be a memorable experience for all involved.
