September 2, 2026 — Tiger Woods has accepted a plea agreement resolving the criminal case stemming from a March rollover crash in Florida, agreeing to a five-year suspension of his driver’s license after entering a no-contest plea to reckless driving.
The agreement, finalized Wednesday in Martin County, Florida, brings an end to a case that initially involved allegations of driving under the influence. Woods, 50, had previously pleaded not guilty through his attorneys. Under the negotiated resolution, the more serious DUI allegation was reduced, while Woods also entered a plea related to refusing to submit to a lawful test, according to Reuters.
The financial penalties include a $1,000 fine for reckless driving and an additional $500 fine associated with the testing-related charge. The driving suspensions imposed under the agreement run concurrently, resulting in a five-year prohibition on driving. The judge also made clear that Woods cannot seek a hardship exemption during the suspension.
The case originated with a March 27 crash on Jupiter Island, near Woods’ Florida home. According to investigators, Woods’ Land Rover struck a truck towing a trailer before rolling over. Woods was able to escape from the vehicle and neither he nor the other driver was seriously injured. Police reported approximately $5,000 in damage to the other vehicle.
Investigators documented several observations following the crash, including Woods appearing lethargic and displaying other potential signs of impairment. Woods told authorities that he had been looking down at his phone and changing the radio station before the collision.
