Jack’s Bay, which is located near Rock Sound in the Bahamas on the beautiful island of Eleuthera is the site of a new resort being planned by Tiger Woods Design along with project assistance by the Beacon Land Development and Jack’s Bay Developers.  What’s interesting about the new layout of the course is that a number of the short holes will lie directly on the island’s eastern coastline, just a few feet from the island’s beautiful, pristine sea.

Tiger Woods Design is working diligently on completing the project as the golf course consultant and Beau Welling Design has been hired in a land planning consultant capacity, according to drafted plans.
Also included is a short par-three fourth hole which plays directly parallel to the ocean, and a similar challenge for golfers on the twelfth hole, although this layout is subject to change.

The intended project hopes to result in a premier Caribbean destination for luxury resort-style living and golf at the Rock Sound location.   Local residents have big hopes that with the development of the new resort on the Southern part of the island, along with the construction will come the creation of jobs and future employment for Eleutherans.  Eleuthera, which means “freedom” in Greek, lies just 279 miles SE of the Florida coast, and the development will be home to the region’s first Tiger Woods-designed golf course, and will afford residents and members the boundless freedom, luxury, and adventure of paradise, as well as the legendary hospitality of the Bahamas.

For the course’s seven and eight holes, they will be placed nearby a small lake, in an effort to give more challenge to golfers, whereby they must navigate around the water from the tee.  According to the drafts, the course’s opening and closing holes are also its longest. The par-five first hole plays 612 yards, where at this point golfers will have to complete their round by taking on another par-five hole – the 596 yard eighteenth.

Bluejack National, which opened last year, has involvement with the new short course and 18-hole course and continues its relationship with Tiger Woods Designs and Beacon Land Development.
“I am honored to be part of this spectacular project in paradise,” said Woods in an interview about the project. “The amazing convergence of land and sea calls for an equally unique and incredible golf experience that TGR Design can deliver. The golf course complements this luxury resort destination because it’s designed for golfers to have fun, while still being challenged.”
