Tiger Woods made a rare public appearance at Pebble Beach over the weekend, stepping into a familiar setting to help welcome young competitors at the TGR Junior Invitational. The 15-time major champion was seen near the first tee, introducing one of the players before their round.
The visit came as Woods remains away from professional competition. Rather than preparing for a tournament himself, he was there to support the next generation of golfers taking part in an event connected to his foundation. The invitational brings 60 junior players to Pebble Beach, with boys and girls competing across three age groups. Qualifying began at The Hay, and championship matches are scheduled for Monday, October 12.
Pebble Beach is closely tied to some of Woods’ most memorable achievements. In 2000, he won the U.S. Open there by 15 strokes, finishing at 12 under par. The margin remains the largest in the history of the men’s major championships. Earlier that year, he also captured the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am after rallying from seven strokes behind in the final round.
More than two decades later, Woods returned to the course in a different role: encouraging young players at the start of their own golf journeys. His appearance offered a reminder of his history at Pebble Beach while putting the focus on the junior golfers competing there now.
