Tiger Woods was arrested following a car crash that occurred on March 27, 2026, near his home on Jupiter Island, Florida. According to police reports, Woods was involved in a two-vehicle collision when he attempted to pass a truck at high speed, clipping a trailer and causing his SUV to roll over.

Authorities responded to the scene shortly after the crash and noted signs of impairment, including lethargic behavior and difficulty during field sobriety tests. Although a breathalyzer test showed no alcohol in his system, Woods refused to submit to a urine test, leading to additional charges under Florida law. He was taken into custody and later charged with driving under the influence with property damage, as well as refusal to comply with testing. Woods was released after several hours, as required by law.

The police report further indicated that Woods appeared disoriented at the scene, and officers noted that his speech was slow and his movements were unsteady. Woods later told authorities he had been taking prescription medication and admitted he may have been distracted while driving. Investigators believe these factors may have contributed to the crash. A deputy on the scene recalled Woods saying he had not consumed alcohol that day but had taken “a few” prescription medications. Two pills, later determined to be the painkiller hydrocodone, were found in the pocket of Woods’ pants, the report said. Details about his normal prescription regimen were shared with officers but redacted from the affidavit.

Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, either to Woods or the other driver involved. However, the accident has reignited concerns about Woods’ well-being, particularly given his history of injuries and past incidents involving driving and substance use. Over the years, Woods has faced multiple physical setbacks, including surgeries related to his back and legs, as well as a highly publicized 2021 rollover crash in California that resulted in significant injuries.

The latest incident comes at a time when Woods had been working toward returning to competitive golf. Questions now surround his immediate future, both in terms of his health and his ability to compete at the highest level. While his legacy as one of golf’s greatest players remains intact, this latest episode adds another layer of uncertainty to the next chapter of his life and career.
