World No.14 and three-time major champion Jordan Spieth on playing in his first PNC Championship with 60 year old dad Shawn

On being paired with World No.2 Nelly Korda…. As I mentioned earlier, just watching Nelly’s success and I grew up with Jessica, and just kind of to see that duo on the LPGA taking over, it will be fun to play in the same event, but not super excited that she’s on the same tees as dad. Kind of wish Dad was 1-up with her dad but maybe he’ll take it as a challenge and he’ll be up for it.

“I’m looking forward to it. It’s like playing with Adam Scott. She swings it so sweet. It will be nice to watch that tempo and hopefully Dad will watch that tempo and take that tempo. Swing like Nelly, that’s going to be your goal on Saturday.”

Jordan Spieth’s single swing thought for his father Shawn… “Swing it like Nelly”

Stewart Cink and son, Connor

On playing in the PNC Championship with his sons…

Well, it’s the most enjoyable tournament of the year. It has all the good stuff of all the tournaments we play in, but it has very little of the stressful and excruciating stuff that all the other tournaments have.

I get to share that with him(Connor) or other years with my son, Reagan. It’s really a unique thing. You can explain what it must feel like to face a 100-mile-an-hour fastball in the World Series but you can’t ever really get that experience. And this tournament gives the partners a chance to sort of feel that coming down the stretch and on the first tee and all that. It’s just really cool.

On Tiger playing in the PNC Championship

To me what says a lot about the PNC championship is it’s the third straight year he’s played in. Can you name any other tournament that that’s the case? I don’t know if there is one that he’s played in the last three straight years? I mean that says a lot about what this tournament means to all of us playing; that Tiger Woods would play here three consecutive years considering what he’s gone through.

Three-time major winner Padraig Harrington and 19 year old son Paddy on playing in their fifth PNC Championship…

On who Padraig will want to watch on the range…

Charlie. Charlie. Actually, to be honest, definitely Charlie, Charlie, Charlie. But kind of just strange enough, after watching Tiger in the match, to me, with a bit more speed and a bit more of that, like you never doubt Tiger’s mental ability, and it’s always one where is he able to come back, and you don’t want to give up — like he looked better physically at that match and the speed.

Paddy on nerves….

Honestly, like this week, I have not been as nervous as previous years. But I feel like when we actually get to Saturday and I stand on the first tee that I will be nervous.

Definitely in terms of preparation and stuff, like previous years I would have been very – if I’m hitting it not well or something before, like I’m very like stressed but I wasn’t that stressed this year.

About the PNC Championship

The tournament, which will be broadcast live across NBC, GOLF Channel and Peacock, attracts major champions whose victories this year span from 1959 to 2021. This year, the PNC Championship includes a field that have won a remarkable 73 Major titles. With only 20 teams competing, players past and present have shown unprecedented interest in campaigning for a spot in the star-studded line-up.

This is the 11th year PNC Bank has been the tournament’s title sponsor. The event was renamed the PNC Championship in 2020, reflecting the world class talent at this inclusive family tournament that showcases the special bonds that the love of golf creates.

The PNC Championship has continued to evolve since the inaugural tournament in 1995, when ten major winners gathered with their sons. The tournament now features 20 major champions and their relatives competing for the total purse of $1,085,000 in a two-day, 36-hole scramble for the Willie Park Trophy.

To qualify for the PNC Championship, players must have won a major championship or THE PLAYERS Championship. Their partner must not hold a PGA or LPGA TOUR card.

The PNC Championship is operated in partnership by IMG and NBC Sports.
