Women on Par Golf Club HTX Nominated for Induction into the African American Golfers Hall of Fame

by AAGD NEWSWIRE

Houston, Texas — March 3, 2026 — Women on Par Golf Club, a Houston-based organization dedicated to supporting and empowering women of color through golf education, has been nominated for induction into the prestigious African American Golfers Hall of Fame in recognition of its outstanding community service and impact on the growth of the game.

About Women on Par Golf Club HTX

Founded in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic, Women on Par was created as a safe and supportive space for women of color to learn how to play the game on the golf course after taking lessons. Our mission is to serve as a launch pad to help women and girls to execute golf fundamentals, teach etiquette and rules on the course. The organization focuses on growing the game while uplifting women and girls through confidence-building, and access to opportunities in golf. The organization is especially known for its advocacy and volunteer efforts supporting junior golfers, high school golf programs, and collegiate women’s golf. We help to create access and opportunities for the next generation.

founder of Women on Par Golf Club

What began as a small group has grown into a thriving organization of more than 65 women committed to fellowship, fun, competition, mentorship, and service. “This nomination is not just an honor — it is a reflection of the heart, dedication, and persistence of our members,” said Dee Thompson, founder of Women on Par Golf Club. “Our goal has always been bigger than golf. We are building confidence, creating community, and opening doors for women and young girls who may not otherwise see themselves in this space.”

Women on Par was nominated by Maulana Dotch, the second-ever African-American woman to become a Professional Golf Association of America (PGA) member and the first African-American woman PGA member to serve as a general manager of a golf facility, Houston’s Hermann Park Golf Course. Dotch’s nomination was for Women on Par’s volunteer commitment to junior golfers and its role in expanding the sport to women of color. The induction ceremony is scheduled for May 24 in West Palm Beach, Florida, where honorees from across the country will be recognized for their contributions to golf and the African American golfing community. We are grateful to our members, partners, volunteers, and supporters for their passion and service that made this recognition possible.
