February 19, 2020–We caught up with mega-golfer Al Quarles, a founding member of Black Golf Alliance, for a quaint interview about this popular and recently launched Facebook social group. Quarles has been into golf for decades and has produced some fantastic and innovative programs to grow player networks around the country, including Bogey Boyz Golf and most recently Buckafogey Sports, a clothing, footwear, headgear and athletic apparel company.
In this interview, Quarles, from his Willow Grove, Pa base, shares details of the Black Golf Alliance which focuses on “Growing the game in the Black community through love, unity, and respect for each other and the game of golf.” The social group is into all things fun, including the posting of golf rounds, jokes, player tidbits, and so forth. Currently, there are nearly 3,000 users in the group which launched only 6 months ago.
Quarles also discusses the Black Golf Alliance’s Inaugural Juneteenth Golf Classic that is being held in Myrtle Beach, SC. The event plans to have clinics, a tournament, social events, and many prizes and awards. This outing promises to be filled with great fellowship, fun, and challenging competition for ALL handicap levels. Registration will only be available for the 1st 100 players.
