20 years ago Tiger Wood’s made a putt from the back edge of the island green at the 17th hole of The Players Championship. The shot is perhaps the most famous putt in the history of the sport of golf. The shot made Woods his first-ever title at TPC Sawgrass.
In the many ways of celebrating this momentous putt, one most noteworthy is a mini-documentary of the moment the shot happened, featuring golfers commenting on the difficulty of the feat while describing what the moment meant to them personally.

“I remember when the ball got to the crest of the slope that it had perfect pace,” Mickelson said 20 years later. “And then when it got to about 10 feet out it looked like he was going to make it. Seriously, from where he was, the ball was actually going to go in and I just remember thinking, ‘Are you frickin’ kidding me?’
In addition to organizers commemorating on the putt, a flag with the letters “TW,” “Better Than Most” and “March 24, 2001,” was placed in the same third-round hole location marking the site where history was made. The last time Tiger won the event was in 2013.
Woods, who is currently recovering from surgery on his legs following a horrific February roll-over car crash, is not participating in The Players Championship this year, did speak with the organizers on the occasion.
The moment.
