WESTON, Fla. (Feb. 26, 2025) — The Florida A&M University Division I men’s team and Howard
University women’s team successfully defended their titles at the second annual Arcis-HBCU (Historically
Black Colleges and Universities) Golf Championship. Livingstone College captured the Division II men’s
team title.
The three-day golf and networking event was held at The Club at Weston Hills—which is owned and operated by Arcis Golf—and contested on The Players Course, one of two magnificent, 18-hole golf courses created by world-renowned designer Robert Trent Jones, Jr. The tournament was scheduled to be a 54-hole event but was shortened to 45 holes due to inclement weather.

Led by Miguel Ilas and Sascha Robinson, who finished second and third in the individual competition, Florida A&M won the Division I men’s competition by 42 strokes over the next closest competitor. North Carolina Central sophomore Jamal Hutchinson, who entered the tournament fresh off being named the Northeast Conference’s co-player of the week, won the individual title over Ilas by 2 shots.
The Division II men’s team competition was tightly contested as Livingstone College was just 6 shots better than Savannah State. Defending champion Miles College finished in third place, 8 strokes behind. Miles was led by freshman Zostrianos Giordani-Gross, who won the individual title by 2 shots over David Chavez (Virginia State), and 3 shots over defending champion Jaden Saunders (Savannah State). Just a sophomore, Saunders has posted first- and third-place finishes in the tournament’s first two years.

Howard successfully defended its women’s title, topping Alabama State by 18 strokes. Morgan Horrell and Paris Fieldings paced the Bison as the pair finished second and third in the individual competition. North Carolina AT&T junior Ekaterina Prokhorova earned the individual title with a 2-stroke margin over Horrell. Defending champion Kendall Jackson, from Howard, finished in a tie for 10th place

On Saturday, Arcis Golf staged a “Club-in-Hand Event” in conjunction with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County Nan Knox Club. This grow-the-game event engaged young people who have never played golf. Participants learned how to drive, chip, and putt under the tutelage of three PGA professionals from the South Florida PGA Section and were in the gallery to watch some of the collegiate action.

Arcis Golf—the second largest owner and operator of private, resort, and daily fee golf facilities in the United States —provides ongoing opportunities for HBCU golfers to practice and hone their skills at clubs across the country. This ensures HBCU student-athletes have dedicated places to practice and play beyond the tournament schedule and/or their collegiate home courses. To learn more about Arcis Golf, visit arcisgolf.com.
