The Ebony Ladies Golf League was honored on the evening of February 27 at the Girls In The Game 30th Anniversary Gala. The event, held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the InterContinental Magnificent Mile in Chicago, IL, welcomed a sold-out audience of 600 attendees who listened attentively to the inspiring stories of each honoree. The theme of the event was “Strong Starts Here.”
Founded by Louise Horne in 1974, the Ebony Ladies Golf League is celebrating its 51st year of empowering women through golf. This year’s gala, themed Field of Dreams, recognized 30 years of Girls In The Game’s impact, celebrating its efforts in helping young girls in Chicago and beyond develop confidence, strength, and leadership skills. The event honored individuals and organizations that have played a role in supporting girls and women, whether through direct service, mentorship, or advocating for change in systems that have historically overlooked their needs.
In recognition of its exemplary leadership and contributions, the Ebony Ladies Golf League was selected by the Girls In The Game board, staff, and participants as a Champion at Field of Dreams. This prestigious honor places the league among past champions such as the United States Women’s Hockey Team, Brandi Chastain, Tamika Catchings, and Curtis Granderson.
