Helyne Joseph’s journey to success is a testament to perseverance, vision, and an unwavering commitment to using golf and travel as tools for empowerment. Born in Antigua & Barbuda, she discovered her love for golf at an early age, practicing in her living room and front yard with guidance from her father. Encouraged by her mother to pursue her passion, she soon realized that golf could be more than just a game—it could be a gateway to opportunity.
At just 12-years old, Helyne qualified for the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (O.E.C.S) Team in the Caribbean Junior Championships. This milestone solidified her belief in the power of sports and set her on a path of international competition. She played in various local, regional, and U.S.-based tournaments, including the prestigious Teens On The Greens events. Even as she pursued a degree in Material Science & Engineering, she remained dedicated to golf, proving that academic excellence and athletic achievement could go hand in hand.
Upon completing her education, Helyne took her golf career to the next level, qualifying for the LPGA Symetra (now Epson) Tour. Her drive and determination eventually led her to earn an LPGA Class A certification, establishing her as an elite golf professional. As her career evolved, she set her sights on making a greater impact through leadership and mentorship.
As CEO of Empowerment Through Golf (ETG), Helyne has transformed her passion into a mission-driven initiative. What began as a post-hurricane rebuilding effort in Barbuda has grown into a thriving nonprofit providing S.T.E.A.M. and golf education opportunities to underserved students in San Diego, the Caribbean, and Africa. “Golf is more than a sport; it’s a platform for academic growth, character building, and global networking,” she explains. Through ETG, she has fostered mentorship programs that connect young athletes with industry professionals, ensuring they receive the support needed to excel both on and off the course.
In 2022-2023, she expanded her impact by coaching Bishop High School’s Varsity golf team, guiding them to CIF and Regional Championships. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes discipline, strategic thinking, and personal growth, values that extend beyond the game. “I want my students to understand that success is built on resilience, preparation, and self-belief,” she says.
Beyond golf, Helyne’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish Gift of Travel, a concierge travel service that helps clients experience the world while also creating income opportunities in the booming $8 trillion travel industry. Through her business, she empowers others to harness the economic potential of travel, blending cultural exchange with financial independence.
Her success can be attributed to a combination of qualities: relentless determination, a visionary mindset, and a deep sense of purpose. She thrives on breaking barriers and creating pathways for others, embodying the principle that true leadership is about lifting others as you rise. Whether on the golf course or in the boardroom, Helyne Joseph continues to redefine success, proving that passion, preparation, and purpose are the ultimate drivers of achievement.
