The PGA Jr. League is a youth golf program designed to make golf fun, social, and team-oriented for boys and girls ages roughly 13 and under (with some older players included in “Play Days”). Launched in 2013 by the PGA of America, the league was created to give young golfers a more inclusive and engaging alternative to traditional individual stroke play competition. Its mission is to foster a love of the game, build confidence, and encourage learning through teamwork and positive experiences on the course.

The league’s format borrows elements from team sports like baseball and soccer. Players compete in scramble and match play formats, earning points for their teams based on performance, participation, and sportsmanship. Teams typically consist of four players, and events take place at participating golf facilities across the United States and internationally. Each season culminates in local championships, with opportunities for players to advance to regional and national events.

Since its inception, PGA Jr. League has grown rapidly, attracting thousands of young participants and forming a wide network of partner facilities, PGA and LPGA Professionals, and volunteers. Its success is credited with boosting junior participation, helping players develop skills in both golf and life, and creating a supportive community around youth golf. The social, non-intimidating team environment has made it appealing to beginners and experienced young golfers alike.

Families and players interested in joining a local team or learning more about the league can find detailed information, including registration, schedules, and nearby programs, on the official PGA Jr. League website at pgajrleague.com. For updates and community engagement, PGA Jr. League maintains active social media channels, including Instagram (@PGAJrLeague) and Facebook (/PGAJrLeague), where events, highlights, and resources are regularly shared. Whether a child is picking up a club for the first time or seeking competitive team golf, PGA Jr. League offers a dynamic and welcoming entry point into the sport.
