Charlie Woods is preparing to write the next chapter of his promising golf career, and two of his biggest supporters were there to celebrate. Golf legend Tiger Woods and his former wife, Elin Nordegren, came together on Friday, November 6, as their 17-year-old son officially committed to play collegiate golf at Florida State University.

The signing ceremony took place at The Benjamin School in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where Charlie joined fellow student-athletes being recognized for their college commitments. The occasion marked an important achievement for the young golfer, whose development has attracted national attention because of both his famous father and his own competitive accomplishments.

Tiger, 50, proudly wore a Florida State shirt while standing beside his son for photographs. Nordegren, 46, also attended, accompanied by her longtime partner, former NFL player Jordan Cameron, and their three children. The family gathering highlighted a shared commitment to supporting Charlie as he moves toward collegiate competition.

Charlie initially announced his verbal commitment to Florida State in February 2026. His decision places him among an impressive group of incoming Seminoles golfers expected to begin their college careers in fall 2027.

Although Charlie has spent years playing under the spotlight created by his father’s extraordinary achievements, he has steadily established his own identity in junior golf.

The teenager captured the American Junior Golf Association’s Team TaylorMade Invitational in May 2025, an important breakthrough in his competitive development. He has also represented The Benjamin School in championship competition, helping the team capture a Florida regional title on November 2 at Miami Shores Country Club.

Charlie currently holds the No. 133 position in the AJGA Rolex Rankings, reflecting his continued participation in highly competitive junior tournaments.

Golf enthusiasts have watched his progress through appearances alongside Tiger at the PNC Championship, where professional golfers compete with family members. The father-son partnership has produced memorable performances, including a runner-up finish in 2021.

For Tiger, a 15-time major championship winner, those shared experiences have provided opportunities to enjoy golf from a different perspective: as a father watching his child develop a passion for the game.

Charlie’s selection of Florida State also represents an interesting departure from his father’s collegiate path. Tiger attended Stanford University before launching one of professional golf’s most successful careers.

Florida State has established a respected men’s golf program, developing notable players including Brooks Koepka, Daniel Berger and Luke Clanton. Charlie is expected to join highly regarded junior golfer Miles Russell in the university’s 2027 recruiting class.

While comparisons with Tiger will likely continue, Charlie’s college experience offers an opportunity to build an independent competitive record, develop alongside talented teammates and pursue his own ambitions.

Friday’s ceremony was ultimately about more than a college decision. With both parents present, Charlie celebrated a personal milestone surrounded by family, school officials and supporters.

For the Woods family, it was a proud moment. For Charlie, it marked another significant step toward a future in competitive golf.
