DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The LEO Foundation recently provided an outstanding player development opportunity by taking a group of aspiring junior golfers to a five-day elite training camp at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida, the headquarters of the LPGA.
Dr. Alfred Seawright, whose sponsorship made the camp possible, emphasized the importance of exposing young people to experiences beyond what they see every day.
“One of the greatest gifts we can give our young people is exposure,” said Dr. Seawright. “When you expose them to something beyond their normal day-to-day environment, you open their eyes to new possibilities. They begin to see what they can achieve, who they can become, and that their dreams are within reach. Experiences like this golf camp help our young people envision a future that is greater than what they may have imagined for themselves.”
Leonard added that Dr. Seawright’s vision aligns perfectly with the mission of the LEO Foundation—to create opportunities that inspire, educate, and empower young people by providing experiences that broaden their horizons and prepare them for success in golf, education, and life.
The training experience was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Dr. Alfred Seawright of Montgomery, Alabama, whose commitment to youth development continues to create life-changing opportunities for young golfers.
The camp was conducted by Stetson University Head Golf Coach Danny Forshey, who led players through five days of intensive instruction, on-course training, and competitive play. Throughout the week, participants received hands-on coaching designed to prepare them for success at the highest levels of junior and collegiate golf.
“This golf camp was a great opportunity for our players to develop and learn what it takes to play golf at a high level and at the collegiate level,” said Quincy Leonard, Founder of the LEO Golf Academy and the LEO Foundation. “Experiences like this expose our players to elite coaching, championship facilities, and the expectations required to pursue their dreams both on and off the golf course.”
The group included student-athletes representing several schools from the Montgomery area, including Valiant Cross Academy and Pike Road Schools, demonstrating the LEO Foundation’s commitment to developing young golfers from across the River Region.
Coach Ted White, who accompanied the players, praised the experience.
“I have never seen anything of this magnitude,” White said. “This is a very big deal for our young golfers and an opportunity they will remember for years to come.”
Coach Danny Forshey was equally impressed by the group’s talent and potential.
“I was impressed with the players and the talent they possess,” Forshey said. “They have a bright future if they continue to work on their games, develop their skills, and stay focused on becoming the best they can be.”
During the five-day training camp, players practiced, received classroom-style instruction, refined their golf fundamentals, and played on the championship courses at LPGA International each day. The experience provided valuable insight into the preparation, discipline, and work ethic required to compete at the collegiate level.
The LEO Foundation remains committed to providing transformational opportunities that extend beyond the classroom and the golf course. Through experiences like this, the organization continues its mission of empowering young people through golf, education, leadership development, and mentorship while opening doors to future collegiate opportunities.
