Black Girls Golf Start Smart Masterclass Replay Bundle Gives Women Another Path Into the Game

by AAGD Staff

For women who have wanted to learn golf but have felt intimidated by the sport’s rules, etiquette, equipment or culture, Black Girls Golf has built its mission around making that first step easier. Its Start Smart Masterclass Replay Bundle extends that mission into an on-demand learning experience, giving women an opportunity to revisit educational sessions and build confidence at their own pace.

The Start Smart program is particularly relevant to newcomers who may not know where to begin. Golf has traditionally presented a steep learning curve for beginners, from understanding clubs and basic technique to knowing how to behave on the course. Start Smart addresses that gap through education designed to help new golfers become more comfortable with the game. The Start Smart Masterclass Replay Bundle is $27.00.

Black Girls Golf, founded in 2013 by Tiffany Mack Fitzgerald, is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to empowering African American women to thrive both on and off the golf course. The organization describes itself as a community and sisterhood centered on learning, practicing and playing golf—not a golf sorority.

Learning at Her Own Pace

The Start Smart Masterclass Replay Bundle provides the added convenience of learning through recorded masterclass content rather than relying solely on attending a live session. For a beginner, that can be especially valuable because golf terminology, rules and etiquette can take time to absorb.

The replay format allows participants to return to lessons, review information they may have missed and reinforce what they have learned before heading onto the course. It also fits the increasingly flexible way golfers consume educational content.

Rather than treating golf simply as a recreational activity, the Start Smart approach reflects Black Girls Golf’s larger philosophy: learn, practice and play.

The organization’s website currently promotes Start Smart registration alongside membership, events and other opportunities to connect with the Black Girls Golf community.

Fitzgerald’s own introduction to golf helps explain why she created the organization.

As a young professional working in corporate America, Fitzgerald noticed that important professional relationships and business opportunities frequently developed on golf courses. She recognized that being excluded from that environment could have consequences beyond simply missing a round of golf.

According to her account, she purchased a starter set and began learning the game despite having little previous exposure to golf. Her early experiences were uncomfortable and sometimes intimidating, including being the only Black participant in a group lesson. Instead of walking away from the game, she decided to learn it herself.

By 2013, Fitzgerald had developed enough experience to recognize that other women could benefit from a more welcoming introduction to golf. She created Black Girls Golf to provide the community she wished she had when she started.

The organization’s first clinic attracted 26 women, according to Fitzgerald’s account. What began as a grassroots effort eventually developed into a national and international network. Fitzgerald is a Grambling State University alumna, entrepreneur, author and speaker. Her work has included relationships with major brands and organizations, and she has become a prominent voice on increasing access and representation for Black women in golf.

Building More Than Golfers

Black Girls Golf has grown beyond instructional clinics. The organization provides opportunities for women to learn and practice, participate in outings, travel, network and develop relationships with other golfers.

Its current website describes the organization as a welcoming community where women can connect through local and virtual chapters, while its programming emphasizes education, golf experiences and sisterhood.

The organization has also been recognized for its broader diversity work within golf. Earlier reporting documented Black Girls Golf’s growth to thousands of members across numerous states and countries, with clinics, trips, educational programs and advocacy forming part of its model.

That broader mission is important because the barrier to entering golf is often not simply learning how to hit a golf ball. New players may also need someone to explain what to wear, how to make a tee time, what clubs to use, how to navigate a golf course and how to feel comfortable around experienced players.

Start Smart tackles the knowledge gap before a new golfer is expected to figure everything out alone.

Creating Confidence Before the First Tee

Perhaps the greatest value of the Start Smart Masterclass Replay Bundle is its potential to reduce the anxiety associated with being a beginner.

Golf can be intimidating precisely because so much of its culture is unfamiliar to newcomers. A woman who understands the basics before walking onto a course is more likely to feel comfortable asking questions, taking lessons and eventually playing with others. That confidence can have benefits beyond the scorecard.

Fitzgerald has long emphasized that golf can create relationships, professional connections and opportunities. Her experience in corporate America showed her that golf was sometimes part of the informal business culture—and that women who were not comfortable with the game could find themselves outside those conversations.

Black Girls Golf therefore approaches the sport as both a game and a vehicle for connection.

A Gateway to the Golf Community

The Start Smart Masterclass Replay Bundle is best viewed as part of a larger ecosystem rather than simply a collection of golf videos. It gives beginners educational tools while Black Girls Golf provides the community and opportunities to take those lessons onto the course.

That combination—education, practice, community and access—has been central to Fitzgerald’s vision since she founded Black Girls Golf.

For women who have been curious about golf but have never known where to start, the replay bundle offers a practical entry point. And for Black Girls Golf, it represents another way to fulfill the organization’s founding purpose: making golf less intimidating, more accessible and more welcoming.

More importantly, Fitzgerald’s story demonstrates why representation matters. She entered golf because she recognized the professional importance of understanding the game. She stayed because she discovered its possibilities. And she built Black Girls Golf so that thousands of other women would not have to navigate that journey alone.
