CANTON, MA — Richard L. Coard Jr. of the Shinnecock Indian Nation delivered both community impact and on‑course excellence at this year’s Annual Ivy Classic Golf Tournament, held at the renowned Blue Hill Country Club in Canton, Massachusetts.
Hosted by the Psi Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. through the Massachusetts Pearls of Distinction Foundation, the tournament raises critical funds for scholarship programs supporting young women of color and a range of community‑driven initiatives. Golfers from across the region teed it up not only for competition, but for a cause that reaches far beyond the fairways.
And then came the highlight of the day.
On the par‑3 4th hole, playing 167 yards, Coard stepped up with a 7‑iron and a Titleist AVX—and delivered pure magic. His tee shot tracked straight at the flag, landed soft, and rolled into the cup for his second career hole‑in‑one. A moment of precision, skill, and pure golfing joy.
