Sapphire Golf Tour Names Danielle Wilson Chief Operating Officer

by AAGD Staff

The Sapphire Golf Tour (SGT) is continuing its mission to reshape the future of golf by announcing Danielle “Dani” Wilson as its new Chief Operating Officer. The appointment signals another major step forward for the organization as it expands its national footprint and strengthens its commitment to creating opportunities for Black women in professional golf.

Tour Commissioner Tarek DeLavallade shared the announcement while outlining the organization’s vision for the future. “We’re proud to welcome Danielle ‘Dani’ Wilson as our new Chief Operating Officer,” said DeLavallade. “Elevating a woman of color into senior leadership isn’t just a milestone for us — it’s a reflection of what we stand for. The women we develop on the course deserve to see themselves represented in the rooms where the decisions get made.”

Wilson joins the Sapphire Golf Tour during a landmark year for the organization. In 2026, the tour is expanding to six tournament stops across the United States as it continues building what leaders describe as the first professional developmental golf tour specifically created for Black women golfers. The effort is deeply rooted in the legacy of the historic United Golfers Association (UGA), which was founded in 1925 to provide competitive opportunities for African American golfers during segregation when they were excluded from many professional tournaments.

For decades, the UGA played a vital role in advancing Black golf culture and helping develop players who would later break barriers in the sport. The Sapphire Golf Tour now seeks to carry that legacy into a new era by focusing on professional development, mentorship, visibility, and access for women of color in golf.

Wilson brings extensive leadership experience to the role. Her professional background includes 15 years of Fortune 500 leadership experience, along with an MBA from Hampton University and ongoing graduate studies at Harvard University. She is also recognized for her commitment to fostering inclusive golf culture and community engagement. In addition, Wilson is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and is known for cultivating strong professional and community networks.

Her arrival comes at a time when diversity and representation in golf leadership continue to be major conversations across the industry. While progress has been made in recent years, women of color remain significantly underrepresented in executive leadership positions within sports organizations and golf management. Sapphire Golf Tour officials believe Wilson’s leadership will help create meaningful change both on and off the course.

Wilson expressed enthusiasm about joining the organization and helping guide its future growth. “I’m honored to bring my passion for systems, community, and meaningful impact to a tour that is redefining what’s possible for women in sports,” Wilson said. “I’m excited for what we’ll build together, on and off the course.”

The Sapphire Golf Tour has steadily gained attention for its innovative approach to player development and its focus on creating a supportive competitive environment for Black women golfers aspiring to reach higher levels of the game. Beyond tournament competition, the organization also emphasizes mentorship, career development, networking, and creating sustainable pathways within the golf industry.

As SGT prepares for its expanded 2026 season, Wilson’s appointment is being viewed as more than an executive hire. It represents a broader statement about leadership, visibility, and the evolving future of the game. With increased tournament opportunities, growing national attention, and a leadership team committed to inclusion, the Sapphire Golf Tour continues positioning itself as a transformative force in golf.

The Sapphire Golf Tour is a groundbreaking professional developmental golf tour dedicated to creating competitive opportunities for Black women in the sport. Rooted in the historic legacy of the United Golfers Association (UGA), the tour was established to help diversify professional golf while providing a pathway for talented women golfers to grow their careers both on and off the course.

Founded under the leadership of Tour Commissioner Tarek DeLavallade, the Sapphire Golf Tour focuses on tournament competition, mentorship, professional development, networking, and community engagement. The organization is committed to increasing visibility and representation for women of color in golf, an area where opportunities have historically been limited.

In 2026, the tour is expanding to six tournament stops nationwide, reflecting its rapid growth and increasing impact within the golf industry. The Sapphire Golf Tour also emphasizes leadership development and inclusive culture, helping players build confidence, business connections, and long-term careers in sports. Through its mission, the tour continues to inspire a new generation of golfers while honoring the enduring legacy of Black golf history.
