African American Golfer’s Digest Announces Its Augusta GolfFEST 2012

Distinguished Leaders In Golf To Be Honored
During Masters Week In Augusta, Georgia

New York, NY, January 13, 2012 – For the second year the Augusta GolfFEST, a fun-filled week of activities and golf hosted by the African American Golfer’s Digest, a PGA of America Diverse Supplier, kicks off with a bang as enthusiasts of the game gather in Augusta, George during the most heightened event of golf—the Masters.

Set among the game’s elite, the 2012 Augusta GolfFEST joins the publications 80,000 readership with locals in the Augusta area for a challenging round of competition and fun. This year, the tournament will be played at Goshen Plantation Golf Course, where former PGA Tour pro Spike Kelly is owner. Golfers will tee-off at 9:00 a.m. for a scramble format tournament followed by a delicious awards dinner, 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at the clubhouse.

Along with the festivities several distinguished individuals from all walks of life will be honored during the awards dinner for their performance of excellence in their fields, contributions made to the game, and for their roles in making a positive impact on growing the game among African Americans.

“I am excited about our 2012 program and I look forward to everyone having a terrific time in Augusta,” says madam publisher, Debert Cook, whose ingenuity has successfully kept the quarterly publication alive for the last nine years despite a tumultuous economic time.

“It is the growing participation of Blacks in golf that has driven the success of our many programs and events. And this year, several exception leaders will be honored during our line-up of prestigious awards at the banquet,” she continued in saying.

Honorees who will receive awards include men, women and golf organizations who have helped further the cause of increasing rounds played by African Americans. The full list is being announced in a few weeks.

Augusta GolfFEST is a celebration that unites the empowering combination of golf and African American history while being dedicated to motivating, educating and entertaining all persons who seek a balanced, healthy lifestyle. The annual event is open to everyone and its Planning Committee members invite all who are in Augusta during the week to consider joining them. The schedule of events support our continuous efforts of educating, informing and enlightening the world on the significant history and contributions made by African Americans to golf.

”All of our efforts aid in generating funds are used to help continue making a positive difference in the sport for African Americans, through our print publication, online website and social conversations. All programs and events are open to the public and designed with the whole family in mind for enjoying fun, fitness, exhibits and educational forums that celebrate African American history and excellence in golf.
