At just 10-years-old, Luna Perrone cherishes the moment when she was given an opportunity to take a photo with legendary golfer Tiger Woods.
Luna spotted Woods at a soccer field where she enjoys playing football. Standing alongside the history-maker who is still on crutches following his SUV accident in late February in LA County, her bright face carries a wide smile of glee, in spite of the fact that she has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer, known as Ewing’s Sarcoma.
Luna and her three siblings have loved playing football for years and they each are members of the PGBYAA Palm Beach Gardens Predators Soccer program. The organization assists in the positive physical and emotional development of youth by providing programs for active participation in amateur sports. The PGBYAA encourages children of school age (K-12 grade) to participate in these programs, and Luna belongs to the under 11’s Girls Elite travel team.
It is such a treasure to watch youngsters enjoy their lives, and to see that Woods took out some time to show love to a beautiful little girl is very special. Luna, who posted it to her Instagram page, said that Woods told her to “stay strong.”
The photo garnered many comments on social media, with fans chiming in with well-wishes and positive messages for Luna:
“Tiger is so lucky he got to meet you!!” one fan said.
“So awesome!! Good for you Luna,” one fan commented.
“Stay strong and get well soon!!!” another fan said.
“Look at those big smiles!” another fan commented.
“Oh I love this. Stay strong sweet girl,” one fan said.
Ewing’s Sarcoma is a rare form of cancer and unfortunately, treatment for it is very expensive. Luna will need months of in-hospital and outpatient chemotherapy in addition to the blood and immune-boosting shots.
Luna is a very active and incredibly involved child as one can see on her social media posts, and she is staunchly passionate about football.
