Elite Ladies Golf League Supports ACTION

Members of the Elite Ladies Golf League of Youngstown, Ohio, teed up with nearly 70 other golfers at the Old Avalon Golf Course on Friday, September 6.  They were golf ready to support ACTION (the Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing Our Neighborhoods).  ACTION has been servicing the Mahoning Valley for 25 years, promoting economic development, food security, safer communities, racial justice, and education.

The registration table welcomed golfers to the tournament.

This was ACTION’s 5th Annual  Charity Golf Tournament.  Executive Director Elder Rosetta Carter noted this year’s proceeds would benefit ACTION’s mobile food market.   A mobile market  currently services hundreds of locations in the Mahoning Valley.  ACTION will soon launch another mobile market in Trumbull county. 

Lots of games and raffle prizes awaited golfers.

This year enough women golfers came out to create the first women’s flight for the event.  ELGL members joined almost 20 women from other leagues who came out  to enjoy a day of  fun and fellowship for a worthy cause. For more information visit https://www.facebook.com/groups/118751512153

ACTION and partner Flying High, a job training program, unveiled Trumbull County’s new Mobile Market on Tuesday, September 9. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the county’s administration building in the city of Warren. ACTION Executive Director Rose Carter noted September is “Hunger ACTION Month”. About 70 people joined county and city officials to celebrate the effort to bring nutritious foods to far flung county residents.

The Old Avalon Golf Course, located in Warren, Ohio, is a historic public course that has been serving golfers since 1928. Known for its classic layout, the 18-hole course offers a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels. The tree-lined fairways and well-maintained greens are complemented by scenic views, making it a local favorite. Designed by noted architect Harold Paddock, Old Avalon has hosted numerous local tournaments and continues to be a staple in the Warren community. The course also features practice facilities, a pro shop, and affordable rates, attracting both beginners and seasoned players alike.
