Charlie Woods continues to make progress in his young golf career, recording his best finish of the 2026 season with a tie for eighth at The Junior Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
The 17-year-old Woods completed the three-day event at 1-under-par 215, a significant improvement over his performance at the tournament a year earlier, when he finished tied for 31st. His final-round 71 included three consecutive birdies on the ninth, 10th and 11th holes, helping him secure a strong finish in one of junior golf’s most competitive events.
Woods’ performance is another encouraging step for a player who has been under the spotlight since childhood as the son of 15-time major champion Tiger Woods. Rather than simply relying on his famous surname, Charlie has steadily built his own junior golf résumé.
He won his first American Junior Golf Association event at the 2025 Team TaylorMade Invitational and has competed in several prominent junior championships. His development has also included appearances alongside his father at the PNC Championship, where the father-son team has become one of the event’s most popular attractions.
Charlie has also taken an important step toward his future by committing to play collegiate golf at Florida State University beginning in 2027. He is entering his senior year of high school and is continuing to gain experience against some of the country’s strongest junior players.
His latest showing at TPC Sawgrass is especially notable given the course’s significance to his father’s career. Tiger Woods won The Players Championship at the iconic venue in 2001 and 2013.
For Charlie, however, the goal is increasingly about establishing his own identity. His tie for eighth does not guarantee what comes next, but it provides another indication that his game is developing—and that the next chapter of the Woods golf legacy may belong to him.
