Jamie Taylor, LPGA Teaching and Club Professional and Founder/CEO of The Black Golf Directory, made her maiden voyage to West Africa in December 2022 discovering the country’s scenic sites, tourist attractions, and exciting golf courses. Jamie’s 17-day exploration trip included a visit to the motherland home of AAGD Publisher Debert Cook where the two friends embarked on a 5-day group excursion to the Upper East region for the annual Builsa FEOK Festival which celebrates Slave Resistance and Abolition in Ghana and commemorates the victory of the indigenes over slave raiders.
Thousands attend the annual event where war dancers from different villages perform on stage armed with bows and arrows, short axes, shields and spears to relive scenes from wars from the previous years. Vendors sell food, clothing, arts and crafts, and this year, Ghana’s president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo served as the festival’s guest speaker.
