Golf’s comeback king, Tiger Woods, seems to have added a new chapter to his headline-making personal life—this time with Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr. Because, naturally, when you’ve had a career filled with high-profile drama, why not keep things interesting?
Reports claim the pair has been quietly seeing each other since Thanksgiving last year, slipping in and out of each other’s homes like characters in a spy novel. According to People Magazine, Vanessa, age 47, spends a few nights a week at Woods’ Jupiter Island mansion before vanishing at sunrise. Romantic or just convenient? Woods, 49, has been battling some health issues, but his heart seems to be working just fine for this romance.
Their relationship is supposedly not a secret among their inner circles, including Vanessa’s five children and Woods’ two teenage kids, who all attend the same swanky private school. If nothing else, at least the carpool situation might get easier.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump Jr. is allegedly “cool” with the whole situation. Given the entanglements of past friendships, golf outings, and political alliances, it’s safe to say that the Trump-Woods social web remains as tangled as ever.
Despite their “let’s keep this low-key” approach, Woods and Vanessa were spotted together at The Genesis Invitational. Not quite a soft launch, but certainly a nudge toward the inevitable public acknowledgment.
For those keeping track, Vanessa Trump, a former model and actress, has kept a relatively low profile since her 2018 divorce. But now, with her reported connection to one of golf’s most scrutinized figures, that privacy might not last long.
As for Woods, he’s no stranger to public scrutiny—or to Donald Trump himself. Their long-standing friendship has included multiple golf rounds and even a Presidential Medal of Freedom. So, whether this budding romance is a case of shared history, mutual understanding, or just the inevitable result of overlapping social circles, one thing is certain: Tiger Woods’ love life remains as fascinating as ever.

Founded on March 2, 1925, the MAPGA emerged as a key section of The Professional Golfers’ Association of America (PGA), playing a vital role in shaping the future of golf in the Middle Atlantic region. Throughout its history, the MAPGA has supported professionals, fostered community engagement, and promoted player development.
The organization, headquartered in Stafford, Virginia, grew to become one of the largest sections within the PGA, comprising over 1,200 PGA Golf Professionals and apprentices. These professionals managed golf experiences for over 900,000 golfers annually across Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia, and parts of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. In addition to developing talent, MAPGA members played an integral role in their communities, helping to raise over $6 million annually for local charities.
In 2024, Lynne Hunter was elected as the first woman President in the association’s history, serving as the 51st President since its inception. Hunter, a resident of Herndon, Virginia, and Director of Golf at Kenwood Golf & Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland, led the MAPGA into its second century with a commitment to excellence and inclusivity.
Throughout its 100-year history, the MAPGA remained steadfast in its mission to grow the game of golf and uphold the values of sportsmanship, integrity, and excellence. Its centennial celebration served as both a reflection on past achievements and a vision for the future. With its commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and community impact, the MAPGA continued to shape the golfing landscape, ensuring that the next century would be just as impactful as the first.

Augusta National Golf Club is one of the most exclusive golf clubs in the world. Located in Augusta, Georgia, it is home to The Masters tournament, which has been held annually for 87 years. The course is renowned for its meticulously maintained greens and scenic beauty, featuring lush grass and vibrant flowers.
Although the Masters is an important historical event, it has an ugly past. Augusta National was built on a slave plantation and land that belonged to slave owners. It then became Fruitland Nurseries, on of the most successful nurseries in the southeast U.S. Before becoming Augusta National, the property was an indigo plantation in the mid-19th century. The land had previously been owned by a slaveholder, and there is evidence suggesting that slaves were housed on the property.

Augusta National reflected the racist mores of the 20th century, initially being a private white men’s society. Bobby Jones, an amateur golfing champion, and Clifford Roberts, a Wall Street stockbroker, founded Augusta National in 1932. The Masters used to be called Augusta National Invitational and some believe that the name, Masters, had something to do with slave masters in the south. Their argument was that one cannot ‘master the sport’ and the name really has nothing to do with golf if you think about it.

The course was designed by golf course architect Dr. Alister MacKenzie. The club’s Clubhouse, built in 1854, was originally part of Fruitland Nurseries, one of the South’s oldest nurseries. The co-founders, Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts, established the tradition of awarding green jackets to Masters winners, which remain the property of the club after the champion’s winning year. Winners also receive a 132-pound silver trophy, a replica of Augusta National’s Clubhouse.
While The Masters is a celebrated event, Augusta National has faced criticism for its history of racial and gender exclusion. According to The New York Times, the club did not invite a Black golfer to compete until 1975, admitted its first Black member in 1990, and began allowing female members in 2012. Golf.com reports that of Augusta National’s approximately 300 members, only nine are African-American and six are women.
The 2023 Masters Tournament, held from April 6 to April 9, saw Jon Rahm emerge as the champion, making history as the first European to win both The Masters and the U.S. Open. Five-time Masters winner Tiger Woods withdrew from the tournament due to re-aggravating his plantar fasciitis, a lingering injury from his 2021 car accident. Despite his struggles, Ramapo JV golf coach Adam Kellogg expressed hope that Woods’ recent surgery will allow him to continue competing at the highest level.

With support from the City of Philadelphia, community partners, and the DAR, the Museum triumphantly returns with reopening celebrations and a new exhibit after 2020 flood repairs are completed
PHILADELPHIA – With five years of renovation, construction and clean-up from a devastating 2020 flood now behind it, the Marian Anderson Museum & Historical Society triumphantly reopened March 1.
“It was hard to continue our programs while the building was undergoing such a huge renovation and our collection was being restored. We kept going because we love this work and are inspired by the legacy of Philadelphia’s own Marian Anderson,” said Jillian Patricia Pirtle, CEO of the National Marian Anderson Museum and Historical Society. “Now we are finally here and we are reopening with a wonderful new exhibit that shares Marian Anderson’s story with the world.”

Located at the home of the iconic contralto singer, Marian Anderson, the exhibit, “Marian: The Philadelphia Story,” was on display at the Museum for visitors during the reopening celebration and will run through November 2025. Book tours at 215-779-4215, or submit the tour inquiry form.
“DAR is proud to have donated funds to support critical repairs for the house and the restoration of Marian Anderson’s beautiful concert gowns,” said Ginne Storage, First Vice President General of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), at a ribbon-cutting that marked the historic home’s reopening on Saturday, March 1. “As an organization dedicated to historic preservation, education and patriotism, it has been important to the DAR to support the Museum’s restoration efforts so that they may return to sharing the history and legacy of one of our nation’s great treasures, Marian Anderson.”
The DAR donated funds to the Marian Anderson Museum from 2022-2025 to assist its historic preservation efforts. Also during that time, the DAR displayed on loan from the Museum gowns that Anderson wore during her concerts in the 1930s at its headquarters in Washington, D.C. Numerous DAR members attended the reopening festivities alongside state and local officials, community partners from the City of Philadelphia, the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia, Erickson & Sons Inc. Historic Contractors and others.

A faith tribute service was held at the Historic Tindley Temple UMC as part of the festivities and a celebration gala welcomed guests to the Crystal Tea Ballroom at the Historic Wanamaker Building.
“Our Museum is small but mighty. We are really grateful for the support of the community, our sponsors, our historic preservation partners, our Marian Anderson Scholars – and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR),” said Pirtle.

Greenwood GOLF Charities Launches Fundraising Initiative to Support the Next Generation of Golfers
Charlotte, NC – March 12, 2025 – Greenwood GOLF Charities, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in the game of golf, is excited to announce a new fundraising initiative aimed at supporting the next generation of golfers.
This groundbreaking initiative invites golf enthusiasts, professionals, and supporters of the sport to donate the value of just one round of golf per year to help build a sustainable future for young athletes, particularly junior golfers and golf programs at HBCUs. The first year funds raised will directly benefit the JCSU Golf Team and provide critical resources to junior golfers such as access to country club, new equipment, and opportunities for competitive golf experiences.
“We’re thrilled to launch this initiative that makes it easy for anyone to make a meaningful difference,” said Chris Word, Founder of Greenwood GOLF Charities. “By donating the cost of just one round of golf a year, supporters will directly impact the future of golf, ensuring that talented athletes have the opportunities they deserve. Our goal is to raise $500,000 annually, and with the support of our 5,000-plus followers and the broader community, we believe we can make that happen.”
How the Fundraising Initiative Works
For every $100 donated—the equivalent of one round of golf—the funds will be allocated towards:
- Creating an Endowment Fund for HBCU Golf Teams: Ensuring sustainable support for the team’s success in local and national competitions.
- Country Club Access/Memberships: Giving aspiring golfers access to high-quality facilities for practice, training, and competitive play.
- Providing New Golf Equipment: Equipping athletes with the latest gear to give them the best chance of success on the course.
- Golf Trip Experiences: Funding travel opportunities for golf tournaments, exposing players to new challenges and experiences that will help them grow.
A Call for Action
Greenwood GOLF Charities is asking all supporters of the game to commit to donating the value of one round of golf annually. “It’s simple, impactful, and sustainable. Just $100 a year can open doors for these young golfers and provide them with the tools and experiences they need to succeed,” added Word.
The organization encourages individuals to sign a pledge to donate annually and help spread the word about the initiative.

Rachelle Lovett Houston has dedicated her life to making golf more accessible to underserved youth through her organization, Excel Youth Academy (EYA). Based in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Houston’s journey with golf began through her grandfather, John A. Lovett, the first Black man to own a golf course (Selma Golf Center) in Selma, Alabama. His pioneering work in the sport influenced her passion and commitment to fostering inclusivity in golf.
Through Excel Youth Academy, founded in April 2017, Houston has worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for young people to learn golf while integrating STEAM education, art, and culinary arts into the program. “Golf is not just a sport—it’s a tool for teaching life skills, discipline, and critical thinking,” Houston said. Her mission is to bridge the gap between sports and education, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder participation.
EYA collaborates with organizations such as First Tee, Jr. PGA, US Kids Golf, and WE ARE GOLF to expand access to the game. Through social media outreach, school partnerships, and community events, the academy has introduced over 2,000 young people to the sport. “We make sure kids from all backgrounds have a chance to experience golf and learn valuable life lessons along the way,” Houston explained.
One of Houston’s biggest challenges is finding time to focus on her own golf game. “We are constantly hosting clinics, tournaments, and exposure events for youth, so I rarely get to practice myself,” she admitted. To overcome this, she is working on scheduling dedicated practice time and playing rounds with students. Her last recorded golf handicap was 17, reflecting her ongoing engagement with the sport despite her packed schedule.
Houston graduated from Jackson State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and a minor in Marketing. She is a certified U.S. Kids Coach and a recipient of the Pinnacle Leadership Award from the Fortitude Educational and Cultural Development Center (FECDC). She served for two years as President of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP). In recognition of her contributions through Excel Youth Academy since 2017, she received an official proclamation from the Georgia State Legislature for the organization’s impactful community work.
Excel Youth Academy remains funded through grants, sponsorships, and fundraising efforts, including the 9 & Dine Charity Golf Tournament. The WE ARE GOLF Foundation has been a crucial supporter, awarding EYA $10,000 in grant funding in both 2022 and 2024. Houston is grateful for the continued financial backing, stating, “These grants have allowed us to expand our programs and serve even more students.”
EYA’s commitment to affordability ensures that many of its programs are free or low-cost, thanks to community partnerships. Houston emphasizes that the academy is more than just a sports program. “Excel Youth Academy is a mentorship hub, a talent pipeline, and a space for learning,” she said. She envisions a future where golf is accessible to all, regardless of socioeconomic background.
Looking ahead, the 41-year-old continues to advocate for diversity in golf and welcomes new partners and sponsors to join the academy’s mission. With a strong foundation and a growing network of supporters, EYA is poised to create lasting change in the world of junior golf and beyond. “Our goal is to keep breaking barriers and inspiring the next generation of golfers and leaders,” Houston affirmed.
