The 11th Annual Black Heritage Golf Tournament, named after the esteemed Herbert Dixon and presented by the Central Florida Business Diversity Council, took place on Saturday, February 25, 2024, at Bartow Municipal Golf Course in Bartow, Florida. Mr. Dixon, renowned not only as a pro golfer but also as a living legend, continues to astound at 104 years young, playing golf weekly and consistently scoring in the impressive 60-70 range. The day’s excitement was expertly captured in photos by Alan Alford, host of the popular Alan Alford Sports Talk Show.
A typical day for Bartow consists of exercising, eating as properly as he can and spending time with his family. Dixon abstains from drinking and smoking, adhering to a philosophy of living day by day. Regular annual check-ups ensure his health remains in top form, with his most recent report indicating strong results. Dixon expresses feeling excellent and emphasizes his commitment to self-reliance, preferring to handle tasks independently. When he was 102, he was elected into the African American Golfers Hall of Fame.
