Today was the second day of the Rocket experience, and it definitely was an experience, lol.
I woke up at 3:10 a.m. because we had to be at the course by 4:00 a.m. It was an early start, but I was ready to get after it. As soon as we arrived, we got straight to work. My first assignment was working on the bunkers, making sure they were raked correctly and neatly so they would be in great shape for the morning golfers. It took patience and attention to detail, but it felt good knowing we were helping prepare the course for the day.
Around 8:00 a.m., we took a break for breakfast and had some time to relax before heading back out for our second assignment. This time, I was responsible for picking up debris around the course and making sure everything stayed clean and presentable. While I was doing that, two golfers thanked me for my hard work. Hearing those words really meant a lot to me. It reminded me that even the little things we do don’t go unnoticed, and it motivated me to keep giving my best effort.
At 11:30 a.m., we stopped for lunch and had another chance to relax before heading back out to finish our assignments. We wrapped up that work and kept the day moving.
Around 3:30 p.m., we had dinner. My belly was definitely happy—but also very full, so you already know what that means! The food was really good, but that food coma started trying to sneak up on me. Instead of sitting around, I got up, walked around, and spent some time networking with different people. Everyone I’ve met has been incredibly kind, and I’ve had some great conversations throughout the day. It’s been just as rewarding meeting new people as it has been working on the course.
To finish the day, we went back out to smooth and prepare the bunkers one last time so everything would be ready for tomorrow morning. It was a long day with a lot of hard work, but it was completely worth it.
We finally got back around 9:00 p.m., and by that point I was exhausted. Even though it was a very long day, I can honestly say I’m grateful to be here. Every day I’m learning something new, meeting great people, and gaining experiences that I’ll remember for a long time. Time to get some rest because another early morning is waiting for me tomorrow.
