Today, as Club Concierge/Member Dining Reservations at Heathrow Legacy Club in Heathrow, Fla., Lana’s never been happier, especially with the job perk of being able to play free golf.

Born in Fayetteville, NC, the 49-year-old relocated to Winter Park, Fla., after earning a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

“My father— ever since I remember—taught me at the driving range and gave me a practice putting machine. I must have been around 8-years-old,” says Lana, who does not let anything sway her away from getting in a few rounds even as a double bogey player.

“I enjoy the private club life. With the club, I have the opportunity to be hospitable to members-golf lovers, as well as having the advantage of playing both courses that I represent, and the other 30 throughout the country owned by Concert Golf Clubs,” she boasts.  Many golfers would love to have this level of accessibility.

As a golf lover, Lana says, “I want to let people know, there are other options for a career in the golf industry besides being a golf professional.”

Lana is an official member of ClubCorp where she plays socially and participates with several women’s groups including Black Girls Golf and Women of Color Golf. This single lady knows how to make the most of a suitcase and enjoys traveling domestically, and internationally, experiencing wondrous destinations at a variety of golf courses and country clubs.

“Each time I play golf, I’m inspired for the next game,” she says, “Aso, I can look out of my work window and see a full view of course.”

So, what challenges does Lana face when she’s out for a round? “Fairways, fairways, fairways – second shot is my weak part!!!” She divulges that more practice is needed on her 3 wood and 3 hybrid to get her game in a better position. “But, I’m an awesome putter. I love my putt game!”
